Hi Arielle, this is Helga. I just wanted to tell you that I talked to my 
professor after class last Monday, and I ask her if I can use some people 
experiences regarding this issue and she actually said yes! I'm actually 
going to use my own experience a little bit as well, due to the fact that I 
don't receive the materials necessary for my studies from the Dissability 
Support Services of my college. For example, they don't allow me to use the 
Braille Printer in order for me to print because they told me that I can't 
print my personal things. And I'm also interesting in finding some articles 
or information about different types of visual impairness, since I think 
that many sighted people don't know how to work with visually impaired 
students, specially college students with prviding them with the 
accomodations that they need. By the way, Just to let you know, this 
Research Paper has to be a Persuasive Essay in order to persuade the 
audience, so that they could take action on the claim that you are making.

Hi Helga,
While I'm glad to share stories with you, I am wondering if you are
allowed to use personal stories in your research paper? The
instructions you sent us seem to say that you can only use published
books and articles as sources; it doesn't say anything about using
personal interviews as sources. Are you allowed to use personal
interviews after you finish your bibliography, or are you only allowed
to use the sources in your bibliography which are limited to books,
online articles and newspaper/magazine articles? If you aren't sure,
that would be an important question to ask your professor before you
start collecting personal stories from folks. Also, it sounds like it
would help Helga more if we can recommend published sources to her
rather than just sharing our personal stories which may or may not
count as sources for your paper.

The NFB has and is continuing to work on cases involving
discrimination against college students. I would suggest going to
www.nfb.org
and look for the 2012 presidential report, which has lots of examples
of cases the NFB has been working on. Many involve inaccessible class
materials, which is a form of discrimination. You could also call the
NFB at
410-659-9314
and ask to speak with Meghan Sidhu.
The NFB has published press releases regarding discrimination, which
means there are probably news articles about the NFB cases. Meghan may
know of news articles she can share with you.
