Please note that sighted assistance is not required to enable text-to-speech during the initial setup process on Nexus tablets running the latest version of Android. Here are the instructions as copied from Google's Nexus Accessibility site at http://support.google.com/nexus/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=2692466&parent=2847279&ctx=topic
"• To turn on TalkBack and Explore by Touch, place two fingers slightly apart on your screen. You’ll hear spoken feedback when your tablet recognizes the gesture. Keep holding your fingers to enable TalkBack and Explore by Touch. After turning on these features, the Explore by Touch tutorial starts, giving you a chance to experience navigating on Android. When you’ve completed the tutorial, the tablet displays the Welcome screen again."
