[nabs-l] Personal Emails on the Email List

Helga, Matt and all,

I believe you can find someone's email address by going
nfbnet'org, find the NABS list, going to the archives, and then
either searching for the different threads for the month by
searching by either date, thread, subject or author. The
person's email should be right under his or her name when the
posts to the list are displayed in the archives, at least for me.

And yes, Michael is right, the email address is no longer
displayed in my personal email either. Personally on my Apex, it
says that it is from someone via NABSL. But as I said, finding
the email address of someone you want to contact should not be
an issue.

Thanks,

Sami.

Hi all! Yeah, I agree with Mathiew! Mathew! I also have an IPhone
and the only thing it says is National Association of Blind
Students. And I think on that way, I'm not able to get an email
of someone if I would like to contact them! Hope to hear from you
soon! Thanks and God bless!! ::)

I think also, if you're on an I device, at least mine, it just
says National association of blind students mailing list.So
unless they sign their name with an email address, it goes to the
list. Thank you mail man for changing that around.

I personally do not see an issue with it if you're all attending
convention. It's always nice to be able to hear someones voice
and be like, "Oh you're from the nabs list." I think you should
allow this, but if the Nabs leadership see's an issue with it,
then they can adress it. Respectfully, Dr. RJ Sandefur

It doesn't take to much for arguments about why this happened to
overflow the number of personal emails. This is the point I've
been making a few different times, first with the radio show with
more lives than a cat and now with "omg guys look someone's on
skype can I have your skype too?" Asking for an email address
creates more spam, but it can be taken care of. Solutions:
Search the archives or just look through your trash. Most email
systems make this pretty easy.
Send out a message that says "for Tyler," so that everyone else
doesn't open it, read it then get irritated when it asks if they
can contact you. This is probably more likely to get said
person's attention.

 hi,
but not everyone has that individual's email address.
I suspect this is why someone posted such a message. Since its
not excessive and the subject line said what it was, it didn't
bother me.

 Hello All,

I think it is really great that everyone wants to reconnect with
old friends
at national convention, and perhaps make a new friend from
someone who
subscribes to this email list. However, the purpose of this
email list is to
share tips, tricks, and insights on living our lives as blind
students. It
should not be used to send personal messages to someone you wish
to connect
 with at national convention.

If there is a particular individual you wish to meet while
attending
national convention, I respectfully ask that you contact them
directly
rather than contacting them through the email list. If you use
an email
client such as Outlook, this is rather simple to do. When
replying to a
message on the email list, simply tab up to the address field,
and delete
the email address to the email list. The email address of the
person who
sent the message will then be the only email address in the
address line,
and your message will be sent to this individual rather than the
entire
 email list.

And generally, national convention is a rather busy place, so
the chances of
the individual you are trying to contact will actually take the
time to read
the emails sent to this email list during convention is rather
slim. If the
person is registered with the hotel, you could always try
contacting their
room by providing the hotel operator with their name. And if
all else fails,
you can always look for a fellow blind student at tonight's NABS
social or
the NABS business meeting tomorrow night. Both of these events
are great
places to meet up with fellow NABS members.

 Warm regards,
 Elizabeth
