Derek,
welcome. I'm not a student but may go back to take an elective or two at
community college; I say community college because its cheaper. I have a
liberal arts degree already and am career exploring.

Tell us your email address so we can write off list; its not in the from
field because our list had settings changed so email would not look like
spam.

Enjoy the list.
Ashley

Subject: [nabs-l] Introduction

My name is Derek Manners and I was elected to the Board at the national
convention. I'm a 26 year old second year law student at Harvard. I'm
originally from Texas and Oklahoma.

I have two goals for the next two years. The first is to increase our budget
by reaching out to the private sector.

The second is to figure out how to better reach blind college students.
Despite being in Austin Texas, home to one of the most vibrant chapters, I
had no idea the NFB or NABS existed. Granted some of this is my fault for
not doing research and some of it is because Vocational Rehabilitation
Services didn't bother telling me despite knowing about our organization.
Nevertheless, we have a lot to offer students so we need to figure out how
to overcome these obstacles.

If any of you have ideas about how to achieve our goals, make NABS better,
or just want to talk about Law School, Public Service, politics or anything
else feel free to shoot me an email privately.

Best

Derek Manners
