Subject: [nabs-l] Reminder: It's All about Math on Tonight's NABS
MembershipCall!

Happy Sunday Fellow Students:

Math—it's a word which conjures up a wide range of emotions in
students. Some associate it with the excitement of a good
challenge, while others (myself included) shudder with fear and
frustration at the mention of the very word. Too often, however,
blind students associate math with the discouragement of being
told we can't succeed in the subject because we are blind. We in
NABS and the NFB believe that blind students can succeed in
whatever field we choose, including the STEM (science,
technology, engineering and math) subjects. But the question
remains: How will we do it?

To help answer this question, the NABS membership committee is
excited to hold a conference call all about doing math as a blind
student tonight at 7:00 PM EST. This call will feature
presentations from John Miller of our Science and Engineering
Division and Eric Guillory of the Louisiana Center for the Blind,
two successful blind adults who have excelled in math and who are
now ready to share how they did it. There will also be ample
time for you to get your questions answered about specific
challenges you are facing in your math classes. No matter how
you feel about math, this is sure to be an informative and
empowering seminar. To participate in the call, please dial
(605) 475-6700 and enter access code 7869673. We look forward to
talking with you tonight at 7:00 PM Eastern about how you can
live the life you want through math in college!

 Happy holidays,

 Chris Nusbaum, NABS Board Member
