[nabs-l] NFB convention

Hi,

Though I did not receive Jernigan Funds, the stipent given to
first-time convention attendees (because I won a scholarship that same
year), I can say that the application is completely painless and
straightforward. The application period has passed for this year, but
for future reference the deadline is typically around April 15th.

I'd suggest getting in contact with your affiliate president and
explaining that you really want to go. A lot of affiliates, including
Ohio where I'm from, are trying to bring the largest contingents they
can because this is the 75th convention. There might just be
something your affiliate president could do to help you out. Perhaps
the affiliate has funds, he/she can put you in touch with someone who
has a spare place in their room, and/or they know of someone who is
driving down or someone with a flight you could try to get on with.

The other thing you could do if this year's convention isn't an option
is to start fundraising for next year. If you start now and put
together some meaningful fundraisers you should at least be able to
cover airfare or something.

Hope this helps,
