[nabs-l] Apple Music Question

Kaiti,

You do not have to add a song to your library to add it to a playlist but when you purchase Apple Music it gives you the ability to add it to your library so you could use it even outside your playlist. Also you are given the ability to actually download the song or songs to your device so they are not lost as you had happen. Here are a few cool things you can do with Apple Music quickly and easily.
• Search for a song
• create your own playlist
• add a song to your playlist
• add a song to your music library
• download the song to your divice for oflfline listening
• remove a song from your playlist
• remove a song from your music library
• share a song or playlist with another Apple Music subscriber

Each of these functions can be done by navigating to the song you want to add or remove and swiping up if you are using voiceover on an iDevice. Once you swipe up you should hear the word "more". When you hear "more" double tap and a list of functions will come up including each of these things I have listed here with the exceptions of download, and creat playlist. I hope this helps.

Thanks all-especially to Brian for that detailed possible solution.
I'm not at the point where I have multiple devices yet and have seen
all this happen from my IPhone, but I'll definitely have to remember
the tidbits about music match as well for when I eventually do get an
IPad to separate my work music from my personal phone.

Maybe this isn't a necessary second question to ask, but one of the
responses got me thinking about it. I apologize if Duarte's solution
solves this too since I am just seeing this email and have not tried
his suggestions out yet, but do you always have to add songs to your
library in order to keep them in playlists? Of course I'll try the
suggested solution and that will hopefully answer my question, but I'm
just curious as I don't necessarily want to clutter my library with
songs that I might use once or twice in a session but not want to keep
around to take up space in my library.

Thanks,

Hello Kaiti,

I have two questions and one solution to your problem. The first question is
do you subscribe to Music Match in iTunes? If you do not then the playlists
you create on one device might not automatically show up on another device
automatically. The second question is have you checked that you are
subscribed to the same Apple ID on all devices you use for iTunes music. I
know this sounds obvious and all but from time to time you might use a new
or different machine with iTunes and the ID associate with your Apple
account might not be sharing music under the same ID.

As for a solution to this problem I would first recommend checking the
account you are signed into on all your devices in which you use Apple
music. Next I would go to the device you first created playlists on and see
if the playlist and music are still showing up there. Finally if it is not,
navigate to the Store tab in iTunes and sign out, then sign back in to your
Apple music account. Once this loads navigate to the preferences option in
iTunes and find where the Apple Music check box is located and ensure that
it is checked. It might help if you uncheck it then recheck it in a few
seconds to get it to refresh. The last thing I would do if you are using an
iDevice such as an iPhone, iPod, or iPad is to navigate to the Store option
under settings and uncheck the Apple Music check box, then re-check it for
the same reason. Give it a few minutes to update and after restarting your
devices hopefully your music will appear.

In summary Apple did make some updates to their Music features which did
cause some people to lose playlists, podcasts, and music but Apple did fix
this in most situations. As of right now there should be no reason you would
be losing music from Apples end. I hope this helps and if you have any
questions feel free to reach out off list and I will see what I can do.
