Ashley and all, good evening. Specifically in answer to your question regarding dropbox, no. The end recipient  need not have a dropbox account. The computers interface which even has folders on your system will allow you to copy a unique URL and paste it into a transmission that is destined to recipients. Only you would need a dropbox account. New or dropbox version, it's even possible to send direct links from other than public, which I found extremely useful before. I do not have experience with other file sharing service. I hope that helps.
