As for your first suggestion, we did/do not find out what our "in-class"
activities will be prior to the beginning of class; this way, we have an
incentive to show up.

Hi Cory welcome to the list. My name is Roanna Bacchus. You could have
asked your professor to email his or her comments about your paper to you
ahead of time. Another thing you could have done is to have a friend in
class read your paper and tell you what you got wrong on it.
