[nabs-l] aol instant messenger

Michael is right about AIM not being used much, but my experiences were
somewhat different. Older versions of AIM were not always easy to use but
were accessible. However, sometime last spring, AOL made a change that
prevented version 7 of AIM to no longer work with the AIM server. They
required an upgrade to a newer version, I believe version 8, and I found
that version to not be accessible at that time. I used AIM very little and
gave up on it at that point, and it is possible that there have been newer
versions of AIM that corrected the problems I encountered. However, unless
AOL has really backed down, the older versions of AIM won't work on the
newer servers. If someone has more recent experience, though, I would
certainly be interested to hear what they have found.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
