Hi Lawrence,
I would also suggest for you to look up information regarding the University of New Mexico. Recently, I heard that a lot of the major tech companies, such as Apple, are starting to drop their college degree requirement. This will open up many more cost effective opportunities, especially since there are various training resources available nation-wide when it comes to learning programming languages. I would only recommend online resources if you're comfortable self-teaching yourself how to develop apps, because that's pretty much what you'll have to do in those cases. If you feel like you'll need additional assistance, then a classroom type setting would work best.

Pretty much all universities offer online degree programs, but for programming, it’s not going to be specific to Apple, because you will need all the skills once you get done with it, to work in all sorts of fields and companies Apple included. I don’t know how your higher level math skills are, but for computer programming or a computer science degree that has a focus in computer programming, you will need the entire Calc series and possibly a few applied math courses as part of your skill set.
