Dear Students,

I hope all of you are doing well. A few Summers ago while I was in college, I experienced something interesting with one of my family members. My Grandmother from Canada was staying with us for her Summer vacation. One day I went into the kitchen to heat my lunch in the microwave. Instead of allowing me to do it on my own, my Grandma called my older sister into the kitchen to heat up my food for me. Up to this point, I had been trying to graciously show my Grandmother what it means to live with a disability. She explained that she forgot that I was able to heat up my own food. I have showing my family what it means to live with a disability for the last twenty-seven years. How have you shown your families what it means to live with a disability?

Sincerely,

Roanna Bacchus
