You might try alt+ down arrow like for combo boxes. Perhaps you might try to hit enter then alt + down arrow.

Subject: [NABS-L] Question regarding excel

Hi fellow students,
I have an accessibility question about Microsoft excel. I’m working on a lab for statistics, and I have an Excel spreadsheet that has text boxes with questions in them. However, Jaws is not reading the contents of these boxes, or even acknowledging that they are there. I only know of their presence because jaws announces that there are embedded objects when I initially open the spreadsheet. Has anyone found a way around this?
