I have successfully taken online courses through the Blackboard learning management system for six years now (undergrad and now in my second semester of graduate school). As far as navigation, you should not have any problems at all. Work with your professor to deal with any accessibility concerns with course content, but overall you should be fine. My biggest tips are time management and discipline. Best wishes!

I like the idea of having a bit more of a flexable educational schedule. However, I have never taken an online course before. I use Blackboard, JAWS, NVDA and my other hard where tech. Does anyone know if online classes are accessible with Blackboard? Also, does anyone have any advice for someone who has not taken online classes before? How do I navigate the online class world? I'm walking into a whole new country here.

Because of my eighth grade spelling, I’m currently working on improving my spelling where it is possible. I also discovered that math is my biggest weakness. Because of my weakness of math, I’m going for an English major with Environmental Science minor instead of an Earth Science major.

Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
