Our reception from last week was postponed until today, which as Gene says, means it will be “168 hours better than last time”. Meanwhile, I’m punching in 24 times 7 in my calculator. Technology for the win! Anyway, the reception is officially scheduled for today at 2:00 PM Pacific, and we really hope you’ll join us! This reception is applicable to everyone, since the topic is self-advocacy in higher education. Parents could definitely benefit as well, since we will have some speaking on the roundtable discussion. There will also be time for y’all to ask questions if you would like to do so. Please excuse misspellings—I’m using dictation. Also I’m going to be a journalist, so typos are my job. Anyway, here’s the link: https://stanford.zoom.us/j/97892946691?pwd=b1UzV1d4OEhmNFkxNmJnNXJ6WWxVZz09&fbclid=IwAR0bqyzwNErw4LL9JZ3lsrfl_Vmcz4RjAx_QR8tbwMkw6sqNzC_-KnJFJ7Q Thanks, and we hope you’ll join us. I enjoyed the overall experience, and I hope you did too. The zoom room was switched due to a coordinated zoom bombing, and for that I’m very sorry. I’m not going into further details, but if anyone wants to process it with someone, I’m here for you, for us. I’d like to apologize on behalf of the zoom bombers, since it’s clear that they have lost the idea of compassion. This may be partially because people are more isolated now. I don’t know. But this behavior is intolerable, and cabs and I are working to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. In the meantime, please think about the humanity that binds us, and try to remember the importance of compassion. This has been a rough time for everyone, regardless of whether or not you attended the reception. Do yourself a favor, and take half an hour off. Meditate, or listen to music, or whatever relaxes you. Take this time to center yourself, to remember that although the world is difficult right now, you’re still thriving. You can’t control others, but you can find peace in your self-identity. Thank you again. Best, Cricket X. I am a graduate student pursuing my Masters of social work with a clinical specialization. My degree is online, and one of the elective courses offered through my university is a creative arts course. Assignments in this course are not as much focused on the product as much as the thoughts, feelings, moods, and relationship between the studied art forms and healing through expression. I will begin this course on October 21, and I’m in discussion with my university’s disability services office that is more than willing to support me in successfully engaging in this course. I’m meeting with the online disability services coordinator (who also happens to have a background in creative arts) tomorrow to further this discussion. With all of this in mind, I am coming to all of you for any tips in completing assignments in the following art forms. I will provide a final note of introduction in that I do have access to Aira. I will also share my own initial thoughts regarding assignment accessibility. Week 1 assignment: Expressing “in-the-moment” feelings/moods throughout the week via quick artistic expression (drawing) and reflect in writing what it was like to complete the artistic assignment, interpretations of mood/thoughts when creating the art, and self-evaluation of completed artwork. It should be noted here that the written journals follow the same/similar formats throughout the course. Week 2 assignment: Draw life as a line, journey or roadmap, focusing on past, present, and future. Include images (from magazines for instance) and things/people/places/events (through a map for instance), and art/writing can be combined. For this assignment, I considered creating a PowerPoint presentation. Any other ideas? Week 3 assignment: Draw a mandala of your life with the goals of Centering, focusing, expression of feelings through design, color, and images Week 4 assignment: Planning a flash mob about a problem (this one looks fun and accessible, but I’d love any creative ideas or sharing of experiences if you’ve planned a flash mob before!) Week 5: Make a mask (Focus is on drama/theatre and the use of masks in counseling; this seems accessible, but I’d love thoughts/ideas) Week 6 class discussion assignment: Documenting an economic/social problem in my local community through photography (use Aira and/or find pictures online???) Week 6 journal assignment: Select 4+ photos of yourself, the stories they tell, and the meaning they have for you (Aira for choosing photos?) Week 6 paper: Movie critique (I found 4 movies from the assigned list that I can choose from with AD) Week 7 (Music, dance, and movement) journal assignment: Draw or have someone draw an outline of your body as you lie in the position that best describes how you’re feeling on a large enough sheet of paper for the assignment. Attach the body outline to the wall and consider mapping areas of happiness/sorrow or pain, recognizing colors and images as seen/felt. It seems they want to focus on visual representation, but I don’t believe that’s necessary to get the point of the assignment. Thoughts? Considering the title of this week as noted above “music, dance, and movement”, might there be a more accessible form of artistic expression for this assignment? Week 8 assignments: Journaling and poetry (completely accessible as-is) Any thoughts and ideas regarding these assignments and my involvement in this course are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and assistance, and have a wonderful week! Subject: [NABS-L] Cross-posted: Graduate student requesting assistance in determining accessible assignments for creative arts in social work course Hi Everyone, This message is cross-posted to multiple lists, so please disregard if you’ve already seen this elsewhere. As for your assignments, I recommend puff paint, or getting some type of paint and adding different textures to it to distinguish the colors so you will still have tactile feedback. I would also consider using different types of foliage for jams, or rocks. Those last few may sound a littleweird but I think you can definitely incorporate them into paintings or drawings or even a collage. I would also consider using different types of foliage for jams, or rocks. Ultimately the shared goal of the NFB and Pearson is to identify and remove accessibility barriers that prevent blind students from receiving a full learning experience. The agreement, officially announced [2] at the recent 2020 National Convention of the National Federation of the Blind, formalizes and expands upon previous collaboration between the two organizations. The agreement comes as blind students are being disproportionately affected by COVID-19. The agreement's components include: * The National Federation of the Blind is now formally acting in a consulting role with Pearson to inform Pearson's accessibility roadmap and specific product remediation and to review and advise Pearson on the accessibility roadmaps for its key higher education and assessment products. * The National Federation of the Blind is helping Pearson promote a culture of accessibility internally. * Pearson is establishing a communications channel through which the National Federation of the Blind can directly and regularly inform Pearson about accessibility issues that blind students are experiencing. This will help Pearson to respond and remediate barriers more quickly, and in turn Pearson will keep the NFB apprised of resolutions. * Pearson has already begun to conduct an audit of its most important higher education products. This focuses on more than 40 of its most widely used MyLab and Mastering courses, with the goal to identify and remediate accessibility issues as quickly as possible. Pearson is also conducting audits of key user journeys through the MyLab and Mastering products, such as registration, completing homework assignments, and using the eText, to ensure that blind students have a simple and positive experience with these products. * Pearson will share accessibility updates on its public-facing websites and make details on accessibility status and plans available to customers who need them. "The National Federation of the Blind has long called upon Pearson to improve the accessibility of its products and to be accountable for its efforts to blind students, to parents, and to schools," said Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. "We commend Pearson for answering that call by entering into this agreement and we look forward to the collaboration and innovation promised by this new partnership." "As a leader in education, we can only fulfill our mission to serve all learners by making our products and services accessible to the blind and all people with disabilities. I am proud that Pearson and the National Federation of the Blind have officially locked arms and begun working in concert towards a more accessible future for blind learners," said Tim Bozik, President for Global Product and North America Courseware for Pearson. "As many blind students are being disproportionately affected by COVID, this is an especially important time for us to advance our work together." In addition to this partnership, Pearson and the National Federation of the Blind recently expanded a Corporate Disability Mentoring Program [3] to help blind youth learn and succeed in their careers. The expanded program is also an opportunity for Pearson employees to learn directly from blind mentees and better understand their lived experiences. ### ABOUT THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), headquartered in Baltimore, is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. Message-ID: Young People Who Are Blind Write Reviews of Film and Video October 9, 2020 - The American Council of the Blind's Audio Description Project (ACB-ADP) and the Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP) are continuing their co-sponsorship of an exciting opportunity for blind and visually impaired young people, in four categories from ages 7 to 21: the Benefits of Audio Description in Education (BADIE) contest. Kids love movies! Movies, videos, and other forms of multimedia are, these days, integral to public, private, and special education curriculum. If you're a young person who can't see or can't see well, audio description provides access to all the visual images of the movies that sighted young people enjoy. Students choose an audio described film or video from the thousands of titles available through DCMP via streaming or on DVDs – visit www.dcmp.org. Or a young person who is blind can borrow an audio described video or film from a library, and thousands of audio described films and videos are available via streaming services. You can visit the ACB-ADP's website at www.acb.org/adp/dvds.html for lists of DVDs and films with audio description. Reviews can be submitted in writing, in braille or via an audio recording. Register for the contest at: http://listeningislearning.org/badie.html. Entries can also be submitted via e-mail or postal mail (submissions from outside the United States are fine) to: ACB-DCMP Benefits of Audio Description In Education 1703 N. Each first-place winner will receive a $100 iTunes gift card. Second-place winners will receive a $50 iTunes gift card, and third-place winners will receive a $25 iTunes gift card. Makes Online Test Accessible to the Blind Message-ID: <20201012143016.83987610B2E7@lx-web-pri.nfb.org> [1] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE _JEOPARDY! _MAKES ONLINE TEST ACCESSIBLE TO THE BLIND _NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND COMMENDS PRODUCERS OF BELOVED GAMESHOW_ BALTIMORE, MARYLAND (OCTOBER 12, 2020): The National Federation of the Blind, America's civil rights organization of the blind, today commended Jeopardy Productions and Sony Pictures Television for making the online test for the beloved gameshow Jeopardy! fully accessible to blind people who use screen reader technology to access websites and digital information. The modifications to the online test were implemented as a result of negotiations among the producers, the National Federation of the Blind, and a blind man who sought to be a contestant but was unable to successfully take the online test because it was not compatible with his screen reader technology. "Blind people love Jeopardy! as much as our sighted friends, in part because vision is not a requirement to play the game," said Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. "Every day many of us play along at home or using our smart speakers, and a blind contestant has even succeeded on the show itself. We therefore commend the producers of Jeopardy! for quickly working with us to make the online test fully accessible so that potential blind contestants can compete on equal terms for a chance to play this beloved game on TV." ### ABOUT THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), headquartered in Baltimore, is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. Last month on the NABS membership call, we learned about National Hispanic Heritage Month. Equally as engaging though was learning how the cultures of some of our members intersected with blindness. To build on that valuable insight, we are hoping to put together a blog post with diversity stories from students around the organization for Meet the Blind Month. Additionally, your story will help us shape the future of the work of the NABS Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Blindness is not the characteristic that defines us or our future. What other characteristic or intersection do you bring to the Federation. How has that shaped you. Are there unique interactions between blindness and your other characteristics? We would love to hear about it. We have created a very short form and, depending on what you share, we will compile these stories into a blog post for the NABS blog. You are free to remain as anonymous as you choose and can select whether or not we can share your story. Please be assured however, that we will treat this information with utmost respect. References: Message-ID: <918BAB73-D530-41A2-A7DB-67B68DF34459@gmail.com> Hey There Friends! > > > I know that we have so many exciting promotional and fundraising opportunities during National Meet the Blind Month and convention season, so; the Michigan Association of Blind Students is coming at you with our MiABS Crab Climb Fundraising campaign. This program is a fundraising effort to garner funds for our student division college scholarship, named after our former affiliate president Larry Posont, which was created last year and has just been introduced into our state affiliate’s scholarship program. Beginning tomorrow, October 15, 2020 and ending on Saturday, November 7 at 6pm, this program is open to all and we encourage students, mentors, professionals, friends, family, and others to support these Federation leaders in helping MiABS become effective in supporting blind students statewide. Here’s the tea: > > > > So, six crabs are clicking their pincers and walking sideways in their respective beaches, when a strong wind blows them into a bucket of low expectations. Now, these are no ordinary crabs, they are Federation crabs, so of course they are using their skills to climb out, but they don’t have support. They then remembered that the Federation is strong in supporting one another and garnering support from external sources, so they decided to reach out to you directly for some financial support to elevate themselves. Please take some time to hear what each of them have to say and use the link below to bid on the crab that most spoke to you. After clicking the link, please fill out the form with the requested information and follow the directions for payment. Bear in mind, your donation to the fundraiser also gives you complimentary access to our MiABS Trivia Night, which will take place on Friday, November 6 at 8pm EDT. Though trivia is free to play, and our convention is free to attend, folks who support this fundraiser are put in the drawing for one of 16 door prizes that we will be giving out during the event. All prizes are valued more than the cost of a bid, so you would have huge chances of winning something valuable and the more times you bid, the more times your name is entered for a drawing. We look forward to working with you all and having fun during this fundraising expedition! > > > > Form Link: https://forms.gle/nbk1mu1zXRBdoLiT9 > > > > Crab Bios > > > > Confused Crab: Michael Powell (President, NFB of Michigan) > “Hello – This is Michael Powell otherwise known as confused crab. I don’t know how I wound up in this bucket as I was just being silly and minding my own business. Next thing I know here I am in this bucket away from all my silly friends. I am confused. I need to get out of this bucket so I can rejoin all my silly crab friends and we can go on spreading delight and merriment all over the world as we live the life we want.” > > > > The Amazing Blind Crab: Sabrina Simmons (Second Vice President, NFB of Michigan) (President, Detroit Metro Chapter) > Hey Family and friends – I need your help! The amazing blind crab is in a Crab climbing race to escape this bucket. I use my pinchers to communicate and educate. Although I may have 10 eyes, I cannot see so I need your support. I would love to get out of this bucket. One crab at a time, so let me be the first out of the bucket. Every $5 will get me one step closer out of the bucket. I want to leave those other crabs dangling as I take leap and bounds to raise money for the student division of the NFB of Michigan. Can you help the amazing blind chick to help the amazing blind crab get out of the bucket first?! Thank you for your support.” > > > > Chunky Crab: Robert Parsons (Board Member| NABS and National Federation of the Blind of Michigan) > “Hey people– We all know that I have no business in this bucket. Nothing about me is low: not my expectations, my sodium levels, my blood sugar, you all get the drift. It’s the price of being the Chunky Crab. Why should you bid on me? For all the reasons that we love the Federation! We live the lives we want, and my life includes being on a beach and not becoming crab cakes. Chunky, delicious crab cakes with Old Bay and garlic butter… Yum, bid on #ChunkyCrab” > > > > Capital Crab: Shawn Callaway (National Representative) (President| NFB of DC) > “Hey friends – It’s me, the Capital Crab. Here I am, minding my own business and running from the Maryland Student Division and Old Bay Seasoning, when the Gordon’s Fisherman put me in a bucket of low expectations all the way in Michigan. As the most important crab in the country, I deserve to be out this bucket and at the Capital, passing legislation on crab independence and partnering with the Federation. Help me get the strength I need to live the life I want!” > > > > NABS Crab: Mausam Mehta (Secretary| National Association of Blind Students) > “Hi friends, I am the NABS Crab! My greatest love in life is learning! I have a huge exam coming up, and I’ve tried to make the best of being stuck in this bucket by practicing my Ancient Greek on the other crabs, but I bet they are ready to throw me out! I would rather save them the trouble, but I need some fuel to climb out of here. Please consider supporting my way out of the bucket, so I can ace my exam and take a nap!” > > > > Charismatic Crab: KaShonia Graham (Detroit Metro Chapter) > “Hello everyone… I would like you all, my family and friends, to help me as I support the student division of the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan. I started as a member with the NFB about 2.5 years ago. I now sit on the board of the Detroit Metro chapter. When I was first diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebry, I had and still have a great team of doctors that treat and monitor my condition. I also have the support of my family and friends. Now we have evolved, there are many things available that was not available back then. The Larry Posont scholarship is just one of many things that the student division is doing to support blind students on their path to greatness. Help me help them.” > > > > > > From r-bacchus at outlook.com Thu Oct 15 11:53:57 2020 From: r-bacchus at outlook.com (Roanna Bacchus) Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2020 11:53:57 +0000 Subject: [NABS-L] Happy Write Cane Safety Day Message-ID: Dear Students, I hope all of you are doing well. Matthew Wayne Shepard (December 1, 1976 – October 12, 1998) was a gay American student at the University of Wyoming who was beaten, tortured, and left to die near Laramie on the night of October 6, 1998. He was taken by rescuers to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he died from severe head injuries six days later. Suspects Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson were arrested shortly after the attack and charged with first-degree murder following Shepard's death. Significant media coverage was given to the murder and what role Shepard's sexual orientation played as a motive for the commission of the crime. The prosecutor argued that McKinney's murder of Shepard was premeditated and driven by greed. McKinney's defense counsel countered by arguing that he had intended only to rob Shepard but killed him in a rage when Shepard made a sexual advance toward him. McKinney's girlfriend told police that he had been motivated by anti-gay sentiment, but later recanted her statement, saying that she had lied because she thought it would help him. Both McKinney and Henderson were convicted of the murder, and each of them received two consecutive life sentences. Shepard's murder brought national and international attention to hate crime legislation at both the state and federal level. In October 2009, the United States Congress passed the Matthew Shepard – James Byrd Jr Hate Crimes Legislation (commonly the "Matthew Shepard Act" or "Shepard/Byrd Act" for short), and on October 28, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the legislation into law. Following her son's murder, Judy Shepard became a prominent LGBT Rights activist and established the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Shepard's death has inspired films, novels, plays, songs, and other works. Tonight, on Pride Connection, BPI Members Richard Marion and Tom Babcock co-host with us to remember Matthew Shepard. Both Richard and Tom bring to the table first-hand knowledge of the case; they have both been strong LGBT-rights advocates; and they have personal experiences in this arena. Richard and Tom will also discuss with us how the LGBTQ community is still being the target of many hate crimes in the United States and in other parts of the world. The New York and District of Columbia bar administrators had initially said they would permit blind candidates to take the examination in accessible formats and with technology accommodations, such as the use of text-to-speech screen reader technology and Braille devices, only at an in-person location with an on-site proctor. The National Federation of the Blind raised objections to this plan on behalf of a blind candidate, Seif-Eldeen Saqallah, citing relevant provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the examining authorities quickly changed course. "The law requires--and common sense demands--that blind people and other candidates with disabilities be allowed to take high-stakes licensure examinations remotely during this time of pandemic if non-disabled candidates are permitted to do so," said Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. "We demand that bar-admissions authorities currently not granting accommodations for remote testing, such as the state bar in California, do so immediately. The National Federation of the Blind will fight for the right of blind people to be treated equally with respect to the bar examination and other tests that will determine their educational and career opportunities, as we have throughout our history." ### ABOUT THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), headquartered in Baltimore, is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. Founded in 1940, the NFB consists of affiliates, chapters, and divisions in the fifty states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. You see, the crab joins five others in a bucket of low, low expectations. The National Federation of the Blind knows that the biggest impediment that blind people face when going for their dreams is low expectations. Now my crab is special. So special even, that it plans to speak with you on its own. Below is his statement: > > > > “Look, I am Chunky Crab. All good crab cakes are chunky. If you like chunky crab cakes, with garlic butter, and friendship, and apple pies, and puppies, then you should bid on the Chunky one when supporting the student division. This fundraiser does two important things: supports a fellow blind student from our state in their dreams and proves that you all have great tastes in crabs. Make our dreams a reality and help me build the Federation. #VoteChunky” > > > > The MiABS Crab Climb fundraiser is the premier event this year to promote the brand new student division scholarship, titled the Larry Posont Award, which will be awarded for the first time at this year’s virtual convention, November 5-7! Help the Michigan student division make this legacy one that follows its leaders and recipients for years to come by supporting the event and bidding. Bids only costs $5 each and you can bid more than once and for more than one crab if you’d like. Remember, Chunky Crab is the first choice you should all make, but give some love to the Confused one and others. They need help. Payments can be made to the student division using cash app or the PayPal link embedded in the google form below. Please use the link to complete your pledge and bid. An added bonus is that MiABS received a large amount of door prize donations for our Trivia night event, which will take place on November 6 at 8pm EDT. All participants in the Crab Climb fundraiser will be entered in for a chance to win one of the many door prizes we will have at the Trivia Night. You must be present to attend and each bid you purchase will enter you in separately for a door prize. There is also a prize awarded to the individual that bids the most times in the fundraiser. The chances to win something special are endless and it creates an amazing opportunity for a Michigan blind student. This system is a direct result of years of advocacy from the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota--an affiliate of the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans--in partnership with the Brown, Goldstein and Levy law firm, Disability Law Center and members of the Secretary of State's disability advisory committee. Without this system, blind voters would have been forced to either vote absentee with assistance, revealing their choices to another person and hoping that person correctly records their vote, or risk COVID-19 infection by traveling to the polls to vote in person. No voter should be faced with this untenable choice in order to exercise their right to vote. "The ability to cast a secret ballot has only recently become an option for blind Minnesotans, and today marks the next, right step in our decades of advocacy that increases access to voting," said Ryan Strunk, President of the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota. "We applaud these measures to ensure that blind Minnesotans can protect both our safety and our privacy in this election. We look forward to continuing our longstanding, nonpartisan partnership with the Secretary of State to make this system even better in the future." Those wishing to cast an accessible absentee ballot must first request a standard absentee ballot at www.mnvotes.org/absentee [2]. Voters with disabilities must then request an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act through the office of the county auditor. For assistance finding a specific county, call 612-872-9363. After receiving a paper ballot in the mail, voters will be emailed a link to the tool, where they can complete and print the ballot. The printed ballot must then be returned in the envelopes that were sent with the original standard paper ballot. Only the printed ballot should be sent; the standard paper ballot should be shredded. While some assistance is still needed to sign the ballot envelope, voters have the option of keeping their choices secret for the upcoming election. Who did it? Why has closed captioning become ubiquitous while audio description has to fight for hours? It's ten years since the CVAA was passed; the anniversary is this month! Should we push for changes? There are very few people who have the comprehensive knowledge of audio description that is possessed by the ACB Director of the Audio Description Project, Dr. Joel Snyder. He will be my guest on the next Tuesday Topics and you will get a chance to ask the questions you want answers to about this complex and fascinating subject. Join us on Zoom on October 27th a little before 7 PM Eastern time or listen live on ACB mainstream at 7 PM. We will be using Zoom Webinar. I am overjoyed to have Rick Morin as my co-host for this series. Without him, Tuesday Topics wouldn't be happening! We will also probabl y have some other good folks helping with streaming! Zoom allows people to call in using their computers, using an app on their mobile phones or dialing in using either a mobile phone or a land line. If you are using your computer, go to https://zoom.us/j/887066437. If you have downloaded the zoom app on your mobile phone you can join the meeting using the app and clicking on the link above. You can also open the app and then go to join meeting and double tap. Then type in the code 887066437. Then go to join again and double tap it. You will then be given the opportunity to connect using internet audio. Double tap that and you are connected. When you join your audio will be muted and you can't change that! It is likely if you arrive when you should that you will get a message that says we have not started yet. We will invite everyone in around five minutes before we start the actual live program. Before we start we will try to get information about who is there so we c an better manage giving you a chance to speak. Please use a head set so there isn't a lot of feedback as you listen and speak! Either using your mobile phone or a land line you can connect just as if you were dialing into a more traditional conference call. There are several available call in numbers but I will describe only two while listing the rest. These should get you in. From New York dial (929) 436-2866 and enter the code 887066437 followed by the pound key. You may be asked for another code but just hit the pound key again and you will be joined into the meeting. The same approach applies to the California number which is (669) 900-6833 and the code is 887066437followed by the pound key. After that, if you need to, hit pound again and you will be with us. There are other numbers you can use followed by the same code. These are (312) 626-6799, (253) 215-8782, (301) 715-8592 or (346) 248-7799. Keep these numbers because they will apply to future Tuesday Topic shows. If you just want to listen, you can hear us on ACB Mainstream every Tuesday at 7 PM Eastern time and also at 7 PM Pacificon Mainstream West. The first edited repeat is at 7 AM on Wednesdays and Tuesday Topics can be heard again at 5 AM and 5 PM on Sundays. These times are correct for ACB Mainstream East and ACB mainstream West at Eastern and Pacific times. Join us on October 27th at 7 PM Eastern time or by 6:45 via zoom if you want to participate with us! If you are just going to listen, remember you can find ACB Radio Mainstream and mainstream West on your computer or on ACB LINK, an app you can download for your IOS or ANDROID device. You can also listen on the Amazon smart speaker, commonly called Alexa by saying "open the ACB Radio Mainstream skill" or "open the ACB mainstream West skill". You can also listen on any phone, land line or mobile, by calling (518) 906-1820. You can now get our podcast from any podcast source. Look for "acb Tuesday Topics". It’s also a message to our state affiliate, which has supported student efforts for decades, that we are appreciative of their support and are following their lead in making opportunities for the blind of Michigan. As you all know, competition is fierce, and though I am spanking these imitation crabs in the race, I still can be overtaken. Here are the results so far: > > Crab Rankings According to Bids Placed > Chunky Crab (Your Boy) > Amazing Blind Crab (Sabrina Simmons) > Charismatic Crab (KaShonia Graham) > Capital Crab (Shawn Callaway) > Confused Crab (Mike Powell) > NABS Crab (Mausam Mehta) > > > Remember, it isn’t too late to support your favorite crab. Simply click the link below, fill out the form, and follow the directions that are given for payment. Payments are $5 and you can do more than one. You can also bid on multiple crabs, as long as I’m one of them. Bidding on one of us provides you with free entrance into the MiABS Trivia Night Event, which takes place via Zoom on November 6, 2020 at 8pm EST. It also qualifies you for one of many door prizes that we are giving out that night at the event. You must be in the Zoom room when I call your name to claim your prize, so have some fun with us. Visit www.nfbmi.org to register for the state convention, where you will be provided the official convention agenda and links. Finally, if you are bidding on me or another crab (really, just me), then keep in mind that the bidder that contributes the most to this fundraiser also wins one of the largest prizes of the night. Seriously, the whole room will be winners. Except me, I’ll be boiled in water with old bay and beer.
