About two weeks ago, I was dismissed from my graduate program at Nyu due to my obtaining less than a 3.0 cumulative GPA. However, I plan to appeal my dismissal due namely to the fact that I only failed one class, while passing the other to I was enrolled in with flying colors (with an A minus and a B plus). The main reason I failed the one class was due to accessibility issues. I naturally plan to include these rather unforseen and extenuating circumstances in my appelate brief that I have to submit to NYK by next week, but I'm also wondering about including something that may very well make my case/arguments more compelling. My graduate program is all online, meaning I've had no in-person classroom instruction at all. I am aware that in-person instruction is 100 percent covered by the ADA and IDEA, meaning essentially that professors are required by law to provide students with all academic accommodations they request, as well as ensuring that their mode of instruction is as accessible to students with disabilities as possible. What I don't know, however, is whether or not the same holds true for online classes/fully online programs. So I was therefore hoping someone could clarify this for me. If onine instruction is covered under the law, which one(s) do they fall under? Second, I was also wondering whether or not students are required to disclose their disability to the school for online classes the way they have to do for in-person, or whether the school just has to naturally make their online instruction modes accessible regardless of whether or not there are disabled students present. I ran into a similar dillema last spring semester as well, during which I failed that same class due to accessibility issues, which resulted in my having to repeat the course this semester. However, at that time, I did not disclose to NYU that I was disabled because I didn't think it would be that important for online classes especially. Fortunately, I learned from that mistake this time around, and decided to take a more proactive approach by requesting academic accommodations from the Office for Student Accessibility (which did turn out all right but obviously not perfect given that  I ran into accessibility issues with that same class yet again). If the student is required to disclose their disability to the school in order to receive academic accommodations, then that might not belp me a whole lot in my appelate case. If, on the other hand, this responsibility falls purely on the school, then that just might make my case all the more cmpelling. I'm really hoping someone on here will be able to clarify these two points for me. If you have any additional questions for me or need further clarification on my case, please let me know. She writes letters to God because her father, Alphonso, beats and rapes her. Alphonso has already impregnated Celie once, which resulted in the birth of a girl, Olivia, whom Alphonso abducted. Celie believes that Alphonso killed Olivia. Celie then has a second child, and Celie's ailing mother dies after cursing Celie on her deathbed. The second child is a boy named Adam, whom Alphonso takes from Celie shortly after his birth. Celie and her younger sister, 12-year-old Nettie, learn that a man identified only as "Mister" wants to marry Nettie. Alphonso refuses to let Nettie marry, instead arranging for Mister to marry Celie. Mister, a widower, needing someone to care for his own two children and keep his own house clean, eventually accepts the offer. Mister physically, sexually, and verbally abuses Celie, and his two children mistreat her as well. Shortly thereafter, Nettie runs away from Alphonso and takes refuge at Celie's house, where Mister makes sexual advances toward her. Celie then advises Nettie to seek assistance from a well-dressed black woman whom she saw in the general store a while back; unbeknownst to Celie, the woman adopted Olivia, and she is the only black woman Celie has ever seen with money of her own. Nettie is forced to leave after promising to write. Celie, however, never receives any letters and concludes that her sister Nettie is dead. Time passes, and Harpo, Mister's son, falls in love with an assertive girl named Sofia, who becomes pregnant with Harpo's baby and, despite initial resistance from Mister, marries Harpo. Harpo and Sofia have five more children in short order. Celie is amazed by Sofia's defiant refusal to submit to Harpo's attempts to control her. As Harpo is kinder and gentler than his father, Celie advises him not to dominate Sofia. Harpo temporarily follows Celie's advice but falls back under Mister's sway. Celie, momentarily envious of Harpo's genuine love of Sofia, then advises Harpo to beat her. Sofia fights back, however, and confronts Celie. A guilty Celie apologizes and confides in Sofia about all the abuse she suffers at Mister's hands. She also begins to consider Sofia's advice about defending herself against further abuse from Mister. Shug Avery, a jazz and blues singer and Mister's long-time mistress, falls ill, and Mister takes her in. Celie, who has been fascinated by photos of Shug that she found in Mister's belongings, is thrilled to have her there. Mister's father expresses disapproval of the arrangement, reminding Mister that Shug has three out-of-wedlock children, though Mister implies to him that he is those children's father, upon which Mister's father leaves in disgust. While Shug is initially rude to Celie, who has taken charge of nursing her, the two become friends, and Celie soon finds herself infatuated with Shug. Frustrated by Harpo's domineering behavior, Sofia moves out, taking her children with her. Several months later, Harpo opens a juke joint where a fully recovered Shug performs nightly. Shug decides to stay when she learns that Mister beats Celie when she is away. Shug and Celie grow closer. Sofia returns for a visit and promptly gets into a fight with Harpo's new girlfriend, Squeak, knocking Squeak's teeth out. In town one day, while Sofia is enjoying a day out with her new boyfriend, a prizefighter, and their respective children, she gets into a physical altercation with the mayor after his wife, Miss Millie, insults Sofia and her children. The police arrive and brutally beat Sofia, leaving her with a cracked skull, broken ribs, her face rendered nearly unrecognizable, and blind in one eye. She is subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison. Squeak, mixed-race and Sheriff Hodges' illegitimate niece, attempts to blackmail the sheriff into releasing Sofia, resulting in her being raped by her uncle. Squeak cares for Sofia's children while she is incarcerated, and the two women develop a friendship. Sofia is eventually released and begins working for Miss Millie, which she detests. Despite being newly married to a man called Grady, Shug instigates a sexual relationship with Celie on her next visit. One night Shug asks Celie about her sister, and Shug helps Celie recover letters from Nettie that Mister has been hiding from her for decades. The letters indicate that Nettie befriended a missionary couple, Samuel and Corrine, the well-dressed woman Celie saw in the store. Nettie eventually accompanied them to Africa to do missionary work, Samuel and Corrine having unwittingly adopted both Adam and Olivia. Corrine, noticing her adopted children resemble Nettie, wonders if Samuel fathered the children with Nettie. Increasingly suspicious, Corrine tries to limit Nettie's role in her family. Through her letters, Nettie reveals she has become disillusioned with her missionary work. Corrine became ill with a fever, and Nettie asked Samuel to tell her how he adopted Olivia and Adam. Realizing Adam and Olivia are Celie's children, Nettie then learned Alphonso is actually her and Celie's stepfather. Their actual father was a store owner that white men lynched because they resented his success. She also learned their mother suffered a mental collapse after her husband's death and that Alphonso exploited the situation to control their mother's considerable wealth. Nettie confesses to Samuel and Corrine she is the children's biological aunt. The gravely ill Corrine refuses to believe her until Nettie reminds her of her previous encounter with Celie in the store. Later, Corrine dies, finally having accepted Nettie's story. Meanwhile, Celie visits Alphonso, who confirms Nettie's story. Celie begins to lose some of her faith in God, which she confides to Shug, who explains to Celie her own unique religious philosophy. Shug helps Celie realize that God is not someone who has power over her like the rest of the men in Celie's life. Rather, God is an “it” and not a “who." Having had enough of her husband's abuse, Celie decides to leave Mister along with Shug and Squeak, who is considering a singing career of her own. Celie puts a curse on Mister before leaving him for good, settling in Tennessee and supporting herself as a seamstress. Alphonso dies, Celie inherits his land, and moves back into her childhood home. Around this time, Shug falls in love with Germaine, a member of her band, and this news crushes Celie. Shug travels with Germaine, all the while writing postcards to Celie. Celie pledges to love Shug even if Shug does not love her back. Celie learns that Mister, suffering from a considerable decline in fortunes after Celie left him, has changed dramatically, and Celie begins to call him by his first name, Albert. Albert proposes that they marry "in the spirit as well as in the flesh," but Celie declines. Meanwhile, Nettie and Samuel marry and prepare to return to America. Before they leave, Adam marries Tashi, an African girl. Following an African tradition, Tashi undergoes the painful rituals of female circumcision and facial scarring. In solidarity, Adam undergoes the same facial scarring ritual. As Celie realizes that she is content in her life without Shug, Shug returns, having ended her relationship with Germaine. Nettie, Samuel, Olivia, Adam, and Tashi all arrive at Celie's house. Nettie and Celie reunite after 30 years and introduce one another to their respective families. When one attends college, it's important to disclose one's disability because without doing that, one is much worse off due to accessibility issues. Since online classes are not universal design and are also not consistent across the board in the accessibility department, any more than in person classes are, it's extremely important to disclose your disability because it's the only way to have a remotely fair shot at succeeding in college of all levels. I believe that if you're disabled and you don't disclose it, you're practically asking to fail in the long run because it's built for the sighted and able-bodied world, not the disabled world. I don't care if the class is online, in person, over Zoom or any form of a hybrid. If you're taking any class at all, you'll have your best shot at success when you disclose your disability because your disability alone can hold you back, particularly when it gets in the way of passing a class without the right accommodations. I also believe in planning for classes as though I were planning a space flight mission at NASA because there are enough problems with accessibility even when you get the right support that it could derail your education when these kinds of issues prevent your ability to succeed. Some classes are totally inaccessible without any form of accommodations. When you're taking online courses, I think one disadvantage is that you don't have the same sort of access to your school's disabilities department which makes the whole thing ten times worse without a disability disclosure to your school. Even then, you'll still have to use your resources, but this time, in combination with the resources from your school. As for the legalese, if you're in school and you sign up for an online class, you have the same rights to your accommodations that you would if you were taking an in person class. Some of the resources may be different, some are less accessible and others may be impossible online, but none the less, the rights are the same for online as in person, but unlike in person, you're spending more time on your own with your own resources, even when you do combine them with your school's resources. Because of this, in the online world, I don't recommend anyone to just depend on their school's disability department. Use them in tandem with your own resources, but do it as required since every class is different, but the same goes for every subject, every teacher, and even, every available resource. I hope this helps! Please contact them directly should you wish to respond. Department of Justice Alleged UC Berkeley Violates ADA By Providing Inaccessible Online Content After conducting an investigation, the Department of Justice issued a Letter of Findings against UC Berkeley, concluding that UC Berkeley’s online content is inaccessible to individuals with disabilities in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). UC Berkeley creates and publishes free online content, including courses on its UC Berkeley platform, as well as audio and video content featuring conferences, lectures, sporting events, graduation ceremonies, and other university events or programming on its YouTube and Apple Podcasts channels. UC Berkeley’s online content is made available to the public, but much of it is inaccessible to individuals with hearing, vision, and manual disabilities. If you have tried to access UC Berkeley’s online content but were unable to do so because it is inaccessible, please email the Department of Justice at UC.Berkeley at usdoj.gov. The Department’s Letter of Findings explained that some of UC Berkeley’s visual online content does not provide an alternative way to access images or visual information (e.g., graphs, charts, animations, or hyperlinks on slides), such as audio description or alternative text, which makes it inaccessible to people with vision disabilities. Audio description is the verbal description of a visual image (for example, a picture or scene from a movie or play) in order to provide essential information to individuals with vision disabilities. Similarly, alternative text conveys the content and function of an image, including pictures, illustrations, or charts, to individuals with vision disabilities so that they can understand the image. The letter also explained that UC Berkeley’s online content also includes documents and links that are inaccessible to screen readers or are not keyboard-accessible because of improper formatting. As a result, the documents and links are inaccessible to individuals with vision or manual disabilities, including those who use screen readers or who do not use a mouse. The letter also explained that much of UC Berkeley’s online content includes videos without captions or videos with automated captions (typically referred to as automatic captions) that are inaccurate, lack punctuation or proper grammar, and are difficult or impossible to understand. As a result, the audio content on the video is inaccessible to people with hearing disabilities. The Department of Justice is interested in speaking with individuals with disabilities who have faced barriers in accessing UC Berkeley’s free, online content. I have been thinking about going back to school, and studying business rather than studying education which was my initial goal, however, my current circumstances do not allow me to return to in person classes. I am also interested to know if Federal aid is able to cover any expenses for tuition on online school, or did you have to take care of the payments yourself? Also, were you able to receive any accommodations through that school? One more thing, in order for you to go into 100% online learning, did you have to work on any credits through a community college and have them transferred over? Your time is greatly appreciated. It isn't always necessary to go to an online only school. For example, I am a history major and the college I attend started offering that degree completely online about four years ago. This allows for the use of federal student aid. You would be able to use all accommodations normally associated with in-person classes; just register with your school's disabilities office. I have no experience with online only schools, so can't tell you about accommodations or financial aid related to those types of schools. In my experience, I have been able to do just about anything I need to do on my laptop, and it is really nice to have the option of braille with a quick connection to my braille display if I need it, but it isn’t necessary. I will say that the display has been really helpful when I need to do a standing presentation where I might not have a podium or something to set down a larger device on. I can connect across the room to my laptop and scroll seamlessly with just the display in my hand. That’s a very specific situation, but I would encourage you to think about things like that, and where you are most in need of braille versus being able to use your more main stream devices. If you are interested in Information Technology or computing, either from a personal or professional perspective, I invite you to join the NFB in Computer Science, a division of the NFB, and learn how we can help you further your goals in these fields. We'll be holding our annual meeting as part of the 2022 NFB Convention in New Orleans on Thursday July 7, 2022. If you're interested, I encourage you to register with us on-line, so as to avoid having to stand in line and come up with cash to pay the dues at the meeting. Even if you can't physically attend the meeting, it is still valuable to join the division as it will entitle you to receive a copy of a recording of the proceedings after the fact, which will allow you to listen to all the presentations from the day's proceedings. You can register on-line at: https://web.nfbcal.org/nfbcsreg Sincerely, Brian Buhrow, President, NFB in Computer Science From Kschaber at my.chemeketa.edu Wed Jun 15 21:29:22 2022 From: Kschaber at my.chemeketa.edu (Kendra Schaber) Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2022 14:29:22 -0700 Subject: [NABS-L] Braille Note Touch Plus or Braille Display In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <2c3f1519a3e65321cba5b7530e4bddde@mail.gmail.com> Hi! I think it depends on your needs. If you only want something more modern but you only want to use it as a keyboard, then a braille display should be fine. I recently got a Focus 14 which is great for using with my computer. If you need something that stands on its own, a braille note taker would suit you better. I have a Polaris Braille Sense, though it's not as modern as my Focus 14. From my experience with this kind of technology, even if you get a braille note taker, it will eventually become a glorified braille display if you have it long enough, even when it works normally. I have noticed that this kind of technology can randomly stop working without rhyme or reason, or even logic so I recommend that you place a longer warranty on the one you buy. The other dark side is that these devices can also become out of date rather quickly, much like computers can. Consequently, it's harder to upgrade some of them. For example, if I were to upgrade my Polaris Braille Sense, I would have to send it in, pay 1500 dollars, keep the braille display part where the refreshable braille is located, but it would have to get added to the new Polaris 6, I think it's called, then wait for it to return in the mail which could take several months before you'll ever see it again. Since I happen to be a college student, I needed something that would keep up with my current tech, and I needed it with me in 3 months, not 6 months or a year down the road because I have to finish up the last of my math and science classes which will require a fully working one to use. Instead of replacing my Polaris Braille Sense, I decided to instead, get a Focus 14 which works with my computer just fine and does everything I need with my computer. I personally would like to see a higher more integrated quality of these devices, however, for the braille bit, I like them since they are the only tools that allow one to use refreshable braille. Finally, you can't compare and contrast these devices outside of looking at them online which is a bummer because for those of us who wants to touch the devices and test them out, there is no way to test drive them or to even see which one is desirable by the way it feels and the bells and whistles that each offer. I wish you luck on finding the one that you think will work best for you! I have never done an online only school so I don't know how they work other than that they only work online. As for online learning, I have taken online classes at my community college, mostly as the result of the Covid pandemic. In general, colleges that offer online use the same accessibility requirements that in person classes do so long as you work through your school's disability service office and that they know about your disability in the first place. Even with the same accommodations as in person, the matereals are not always accessible, and they are patchy at best. I just finished two school years worth of Spanish classes. Each year, they used a different website which had accessibility bugs that had to be worked out via the developers of the actual websites because they are often third party websites that are not part of your school's main website, even when connected up through Canvis or Blackboard. Even when bugs get fixed, sometimes, the websites themselves are not helpful, such as the ones which required me to work specific verb forms in Spanish class. They were not helpful to me with these verb forms, but working the verbforms were not caused by accessibility issues. In contrast, I took a number of culture and literature classes online that gave me very few troubles with accessibility and they were also very helpful as well. Even so, there are some classes that are too visual for the online world which require in person attendance. I also wouldn't touch math or science online with a ten foot pole either since they also open up way too many questions regarding accessibility. I'd rather take those subjects in person. Despite unhelpful websites, I don't mind language learning, literature, or culture classes on line so long as the website or websites are also helpful in my overall progress in learning. When one uses online classes, we often have to relay on our own resources in combination with the school's resources because they're not as accessible as they would be in person. As for the timing of online classes, I think they take more time than in person classes because you're almost on your own for accessibility, even when combined with your school's resources, you're on your own for research, and again for doing the homework itself, and you don't show up for lectures or other in person appointments. If you use Zoom for a virtual class that's also synchronous, meaning that you have to show up on Zoom like you would for an in person class, then you would have to show up and you would have to make sure everything for your course is accessible as well. No matter the format, you still have to keep up with deadlines, appointments and due dates. It's common for homework to be due on Sundays at 11:59 PM, but it's not always the case since some classes have more than one homework due date per week and others require something done before you show up to class if it's done virtually but over something like Zoom. On the other hand, you don't have to worry about transportation or where you live so long as you don't have to show up in person. I don't know how one could survive in an online school, though it's possible to do so because I have never attended one before. I hope this helps! I am writing to you today to ask a few questions about online accessible education, particularly in business. I have been thinking about going back to school, and studying business rather than studying education which was my initial goal, however, my current circumstances do not allow me to return to in person classes. Therefore, I am looking to see if I can find an online school where I can obtain a degree in business. I’m interested to know if any of you have experience with online learning, and how well it worked out for you. Have a great one. I like them both for different things. I use the Braille Note touch for class and any note taking I need to do. I prefer the keyboard on the touch, and I like to send email on it. I've also used some of the Apps and generally like some of them. I like using the touch because I don't always want speech in my ear. I like the Orbit mostly strictly for connecting to my phone. I also prefer reading books or my notes on the larger display of the touch, but for texts and social media, the Orbit is good enough. It's stuff like that you should consider. I would recommend absolutely getting something with a separate note taking function. There is nothing like taking notes without using a screen reader. You can listen more effectively to presentations while taking notes. Also, you don't have to lug around a laptop if you don't want to. Just some thoughts. Hope they are helpful. I can use JAWS on this laptop with much success. However, it is very important to set JAWS or NVDA's keyboard layout to laptop mode. This changes the JAWS or NVDA key from insert to caps lock, which is much easier to get to when doing keystrokes on a small device, particularly if the laptop has multi-function keys that require you to press both the insert key and the function key. Hope this helps! I found that having a sighted aid to describe items that the professor was going over in class with tactile markers like bump dots on the less prominent portions really helped me. I did have the issue of the professor addressing the aid and not me multiple times but this is what worked for me and may not work for you. I also went to open lab times when I could with my aid to go over models when I had the time. During class you will find that the professor goes over models extremely quickly for a blind person to understand because they are used to teaching sighted people the information. That is why going to open labs times are a must. I also suggest talking to your Accessibility department about making tactile paper models with puffy paint or if your school has some sort of department that makes 3D models have them help you with making them of slides if you have to learn them. I had some knowledge of human anatomy so a lot of the information was just an extension of what I already knew. Also one thing that helped me was using a braille labeler to print out numbers and number certain parts of a model and I have the key to what the numbers were referring to. If you have any questions I can do my best to help you more. I hope what I mentioned above gave you some ideas. Michael, Vito's youngest son and a former Marine, introduces his girlfriend, Kay Adams, to his family at the reception. Johnny Fontane, a popular singer and Vito's godson, seeks Vito's help in securing a movie role. Vito dispatches his consigliere, Tom Hagen, to persuade studio head Jack Woltz to give Johnny the part. Woltz complies after he finds the severed head of his prized stallion in his bed. Near Christmas, drug baron Sollozzo asks Vito to invest in his narcotics business and for protection from the law. Vito declines, citing that involvement in narcotics would alienate his political connections. Suspicious of Sollozzo's partnership with the Tattaglia crime family, Vito sends his enforcer Luca Brasi to meet with the Tattaglias. Brasi is garroted to death during the meeting. Later, enforcers gun down Vito and kidnap Hagen. With Corleone's first-born Sonny now in command, Sollozzo pressures Hagen to persuade Sonny to accept the narcotics deal. Sonny retaliates for Luca's death with a hit on Bruno Tattaglia. Vito survives the shooting and is visited in the hospital by Michael, who finds him unprotected after NYPD officers on Sollozzo's payroll cleared out Vito's guards. Michael thwarts another attempt on his father's life but is beaten by corrupt police captain Mark McCluskey. Sollozzo and McCluskey request to meet with Michael and settle the dispute. Michael feigns interest and agrees to meet, but hatches a plan with Sonny and Corleone capo Clemenza to kill them and go into hiding. Michael meets Sollozzo and McCluskey at a Bronx restaurant; after retrieving a handgun planted into the bathroom by Clemenza, he fatally shoots both men. Despite a clampdown by the authorities for the killing of a police captain, the Five Families erupt in open warfare. Michael takes refuge in Sicily and Fredo, Vito's second son, is sheltered by Moe Greene in Las Vegas. Sonny publicly attacks and threatens Carlo for physically abusing Connie. When he abuses her again, Sonny speeds to their home but is ambushed and murdered by gangsters at a highway toll booth. In Sicily, Michael meets and marries a local woman, Apollonia, but she is killed shortly thereafter by a car bomb intended for him. Devastated by Sonny's death and tired of war, Vito sets a meeting with the Five Families. He assures them that he will withdraw his opposition to their narcotics business and forgo avenging Sonny's murder. His safety guaranteed, Michael returns home to enter the family business and marry Kay. Kay gives birth to two children in the early 1950s. With his father nearing the end of his life and Fredo not suited to lead, Michael assumes head of the Corleone family. Vito reveals to Michael that it was Don Barzini who ordered the hit on Sonny and warns him that Barzini would try to kill him at a meeting organized by a traitorous Corleone capo. With Vito's support, Michael relegates Hagen to managing operations in Las Vegas as he is not a "wartime consigliere". Michael travels to Las Vegas to buy out Greene's stake in the family's casinos and is dismayed to see that Fredo is more loyal to Greene than to his own family. In 1955, Vito dies of a heart attack. At Vito's funeral, Tessio asks Michael to meet with Barzini, signaling his betrayal. The meeting is set for the same day as the baptism of Connie's baby. While Michael stands at the altar as the child's godfather, Corleone hitmen murder the dons of the Five Families and Greene, and Tessio is executed for his treachery. Michael extracts Carlo's confession to playing a part in Sonny's murder, assuring Carlo he is only being exiled, not murdered; afterward, Clemenza garrotes Carlo to death. Connie confronts Michael about Carlo's death while Kay is in the room. Kay asks Michael if Connie is telling the truth and is relieved when he denies it. As Kay leaves, Capos enter the office and pay reverence to Michael as "Don Corleone" before closing the door. Message-ID: Hey, NABSters! We are so looking forward to seeing many of you in NOLA in just a few short days! 😊 Before we arrive to National Convention, we thought a new edition of NABS Notes would be a great way to prepare you for all that’s coming your way and remind you of some of the amazing work we’ve accomplished over the last month. Message-ID: <0FCDBE66-2FA6-42B0-9881-2FA001236790@gmail.com> Howdy NABS Fam! As we are all gearing up for convention, thinking about the massive hotel, bustling town of New Orleans, and action packed week ahead, I hope your feet are ready for some excessive walking. Why not make those steps count by participating in the 6th annual NABS walkathon? Not only will you be supporting your favorite organization with an ease of a stroll, but we have some fun twists this year to add some spice to this tradition. Here’s how it works: 1- Register at the following link: https://go.rallyup.com/e6e09d/Members/Details 2- Share your page with family and friends to gain sponsors. 3- On Thursday July 7th track your walking distance and watch our fundraising number increase! To add to the already enticing prize of knowing you helped out a great organization, we have some more goodies to look forward to. Our top fundraiser will win a cash prize and everyone who raised $25 or more will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card. That’s not all, if you team up with up to 4 people, you have a chance to win a pizza party in curtesy of NABS. Haven’t registered yet? Why not, times ticking! You only have 6 days left to sign up, so don’t waste those steps and get ready to walk for a wonderful cause! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out, and I hope to see you in just a couple of days! Message-ID: Hey there! My name is Z'Leah, Vice President of the Florida Association of Blind Students (FABS). I'm emailing today to advertise that the Florida students will be hosting an online Krispy Kream fundraiser at convention. FABS is conducting an online fundraiser to raise money for our state convention in October and would love it if you would consider supporting us! Order a dozen glazed Krispy Kream Doughnuts from us for $8:50 today. If you're a crazy person and don't enjoy doughnuts, no worries! Maybe you'd like to donate to us instead. We've made this super easy for you. All you have to do is fill out the googgle doc form attached below or scan the QR-code and fill out your name, email address and how many dozens you would like to purchase and await a personalized link from Krispy Kream to come to your email. From there, you are able to go and pick up your yummy doughnuts from your local store. Our method of payment will be through paypal. We ask that whether you are just donating or ordering your doughnuts, you indicate that in the memo line of your payments to keep everything organized. Please note a couple things: 1. We only have 18 boxes left to sell, so if you love doughnuts, Jump on it! 2. We want everyone to know that per Krispy Kream, all boxes must be sold before they will send out links, so please be patient with us. How it works I along with a member of our communications committee will be attending the convention in person where we will be walking around with QR-codes to the form of the fundraiser. If you think that you or anyone that you know would be intrested in purchasing, or donating to the FL students, you can email or text me at the info below, and we can find a time/place to meet up and get you that QR code. You could also fill out the link below if you don't want to go through the hassle of meeting up. Thank you in advance for supporting the Florida Association of Blind Students and we hope to see you soon, and that you enjoy your tasty treat!
