Vejas,
I'm currently not on a computer with JAWS installed, so these
instructions are purely from memory, so please take that into account as
you follow these steps.
In order to set this permanently, do the following.
1. Press JAWSKey+6 on your Numbers row.
This will bring up settings center.
2. Press CTRL+Shift+D to change to the default file.
3. type echo
4. Press tab to go to the results and arrow your way through to find I
believe it's keyboard echo.
5. Press Space to change the setting to characters and words.
Let me know if you need further help.

>Thanks so much for your reply. I tried typing in "echo" from the Start menu, but it then says "Have Narrator announce when I type." I couldn't find anything in that list of information that relates specifically to JAWS. I believe I have Narrator on my computer, but JAWS is what was on and talking. Any idea how I could get to it specifically for JAWS settings? I want to set it permanently as opposed to temporarily.
