My name is Fahad Amjad. I am a student in Florida. I just recently started a podcast called experience unplugged and just released my third episode. I’m not gonna lie. I’m not the best at podcasting and I suck right now at the moment, but I plan on getting better and better at it. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve looked up to radio personality hosts, and I’ve always wanted to start a podcast that is entertaining and it has a positive message. The third episode was about this chick telling me about her most embarrassing date, and how he literally shitted on the beach and he became her husband. On top of that she is not the best driver, she has rear ended her husband twice, her mother-in-law once and her cleaning lady. It would truly mean a lot to me if you could give a listen and give me your thoughts and feedback on it, and when I could improve on for future episodes. https://linktr.ee/fahadamjad?fbclid=PAAaY9JEcMIqk2Ir2WcJFEbam0zFY8znukRinUdkaQWHmqlwZRowrHqhpe_Mg_aem_AR_gPW6bGxonYKwTsETaPut1FosdWvW1KgvKjLDUCHcssI7sBvTL6Ufs7luRn9BD-bQ Best, Fahad Amjad From gene.sh.kim at gmail.com Tue Oct 17 16:04:48 2023 From: gene.sh.kim at gmail.com (Gene Kim) Date: Tue, 17 Oct 2023 09:04:48 -0700 Subject: [NABS-L] Fwd: Step 'In the Limelight' for a chance to win $10,000 References: Message-ID: An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Help us take the next step in our research to break barriers to digital inclusion! Message-ID: The following research invitation has been approved by the NFB Research Advisory Council. Researchers at the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) are conducting a study to document the accessibility challenges that blind, low vision, and deafblind people experience while using websites and mobile apps in daily life. We are looking for participants to fill out a series of daily diaries sharing your experiences with websites and mobile apps in real time. To qualify for this study, you must be: • A person who identifies as blind, deafblind, or having low vision; • At least 18 years old; • Living in the United States; and • A person who uses websites and/or mobile apps daily with assistive technology. We are asking interested individuals to fill out this brief interest form, and we will select 20-25 people to complete the diaries to get a balance of experiences. If you are selected to complete the diaries, you will be asked to spend 5-10 minutes each evening answering questions on a short online survey for 10 consecutive days in November 2023. Those who are selected and complete all the diaries will receive a $40 gift card. We’ll use what we learn from the diaries to better understand the types of daily tasks that present barriers on the Web and with mobile apps and how those barriers affect you. We will use the information to help policymakers and technology developers understand how to make websites and mobile apps more accessible. For more information and to fill out the interest form for the study, click here: https://afb.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8kKBJXIhf6rjdr0 If you have any questions or concerns, contact Arielle Silverman, director of research, at asilverman at afb.org. It's your support that makes us able to continue the work we do each and every day. Multiple people have expressed interest in paying for tickets via cash or check. As ohio's student devision president, after discussion with ohio's student devision treasurer we have determined that we will not be accepting cash entries for this fund raiser. In regards to checks, if you wish to mail a check, and have been provided the necessary information by our student devision treasurer, and wish to be entered in the drawing, all checks must be postmarked and received for processing before November 16, 2023. Checks received on or after November 16, 2023 or given to us in person at the state convention will not be counted toward the drawing. If your thinking of giving a check in person at convention, that's fine, please be aware that as we are not sure if we'll have access to assistance to electronically deposit said checks, all checks received at convention will be processed after convention. If you have any further questions as it pertains to the fund raiser and purchasing drawing entries, please contact asia, our treasurer at aevans.nfb at gmail.com If you have questions relating to the fundraiser that doesn't involve funds transfer, purchasing entries, etc. please contact me directly at spopplestone.nfb at gmail.com Thanks and let's go build the federation! The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission. Hello everyone. My name is Alysa Massey and I am a graduate student completing my master's thesis at Southeast Missouri State University. We want to collect information from adults who are between the ages of 20 and 30 who are blind or have low vision about their perceptions of assistive technology services and other career services they had during high school, and how their use of assistive technology impacted their independence and quality of life. I am seeking approximately 15 participants to participate in a 45-minute interview. Participants must be between the ages of 20 and 30, participated in special education services in high school, and used assistive technology. Participant involvement is entirely voluntary and requires one 45-minute interview. If you are interested in this study and want more information, please email me at akmassey2s at semo.edu. This study will help provide information on effective collaboration within professionals who serve people who are blind or have low vision. The study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of Southeast Missouri State University. If you have any unanswered questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, contact the Institutional Review Board at irb at semo.edu or call Jennifer Bengtson, IRB chair, at (573) 651-2146. If you have any questions, please contact me or Dr. Jayanti Ray. Thank you for your time! Lou Ann Blake, J.D.
