Hello NABS!!

The day has finally arrived for our advocacy committee zoom call to
celebrate Blind Month at 8:00 p.m. Eastern! During this meeting, we plan to
acknowledge our achievements in the blindness community and discuss how we
can continue to make progress in our society. The call will feature a panel
of accomplished federationists and allies of the organized blind movement,
and they will be answering questions posed by sighted people about how we
navigate the university and professional setting. Our panelists will
include Dr. Christa Bialka who is the director of the Disability and Deaf
Studies minor at Villanova University as well as Dr. Natalie Shaheen, a
seasoned federationist who works as an assistant professor of Blind
Education at Illinois state University and is a leading expert in K-12
technology and STEM learning for blind and low-vision students. Our panel
will also feature James Yesel who is the treasurer of NABS and a student at
Georgetown University in the Master of Science and Finance program. Last
but not least, we will be welcoming Angelita Martinez who is a brand-new
Federationist and student at the Louisiana Center for the Blind! Come join
us to hear about their valuable experiences.
