Hello, NABS!
I am sincerely sorry that I was unable to visit the 2025 NABS business
meeting in person. I experienced flight delays and didn't get to New
Orleans until after 10pm last Wednesday. I was really looking forward to
talking with all of you about our research fellowship program at the
American Foundation for the Blind.
Since I couldn't talk to you about it in person, I'm sending another
reminder to apply for this innovative program if you are a blind graduate
student or if you've recently finished a graduate degree.
Take the next step on your journey toward an impactful career in
disability-related research! AFB’s Research Fellowship Program is a rare
opportunity for graduate students and recent graduates who are blind or
low-vision to work and learn alongside professional blind researchers.
The program offers an authentic experience to join an active research team
whose work directly influences disability policies. In addition to working
part-time in AFB’s research team, fellows receive individualized career
development guidance from our Ph.D.-trained blind researchers.

Best regards,
Arielle Silverman, Director of Research, American Foundation for the Blind
