Dear blind social workers,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to invite you to join our
Blind Social Work Group, a supportive and empowering space for individuals
who are blind or visually impaired and engaged in the field of social work.
This group began in Idaho with me and other blind social workers, most of
whom I have met through school. My desire is to grow a group of blind
social workers from around the nation. This group was begun with the
following purposes in mind:
1. Advocacy, awareness, and education about blindness in society both
as professionals or consumers/customers
2. Focus on Accessibility of EMRs/EHRs including research, advocacy,
and brainstorming solutions
3. Peer Support & Networking to open a space for connecting with
fellow social workers who share similar experiences, exchanging insights,
building a strong professional network, and allowing a safe place for
venting difficulties related to blindness
We meet over zoom on the first Saturday of each month at 10am (MT). We
would love to have you join us! If you would like to participate or have
any questions, email nicolehill at isu.edu.
Best regards,
Nicole Hill
