NABS, please check out this incredible internship opportunity with a fast
approaching deadline. As a proud alum of this program, I am more than happy
to give my recommendation for all interested to apply.. Please see the
message below, with particular attention to all those with legal/law field
career interest.
Applications for the 2026 American Association of People with Disabilities
(AAPD) Summer Internship Program are open until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October
21st.
The Summer Internship Program places college students and graduate students
of all majors, law students, and recent graduates (up to 5 years out of
school) with all types of disabilities in high-level paid summer
internships with Congressional offices, federal agencies, nonprofit and
for-profit organizations, both within the greater Washington, D.C. area and
remotely. For 2026, the AAPD Summer Internship Program will be hybrid, with
interns participating both in-person in Washington, D.C., and remotely from
across the country. In addition to their internship, interns also receive
individual mentorship, participate in weekly community events focused on
advocacy, community building, and leadership, and have opportunities to
connect with the broader disability community through networking events.
As part of the AAPD Summer Internship, AAPD hosts a Bobby Silverstein
Fellow. This fellowship honors Bobby Silverstein's legacy and his
commitment to advancing landmark legislation that has significantly
impacted social justice and equality for people with disabilities. The
fellowship is designed for individuals with a strong interest in disability
issues from a legal perspective. Fellows must be rising juniors or above
and will participate in person in Washington, DC, where they will develop a
public policy perspective on specific disability issues. Current law
students are encouraged to apply.
