Hello all,
I hope you are all doing well. My name is Lizzy, and I am honored to serve as your 2025-2026 NABS Advocacy Committee chair.
If you are receiving this email, it is because you expressed interest in participating in the NABS Advocacy group. We have two opportunities for you: the governmental/legal task force and the interpersonal task force. The governmental/legal task force will mainly focus on knowing and spreading knowledge about your rights as a blind person, keeping up with legislative activities, and how to ensure your rights are not violated, and what to do if there is an issue. The interpersonal task force will focus on interactions between you, your professors, family and friends, and other people you might interact with. These task forces will meet once a week at a time determined by the task force. You will also assist in planning and running monthly DARE calls, among other tasks that will be defined as we go along.
If you are interested in the governmental/legal advocacy task force, please get in touch with Noor, who will serve as the task force lead at noorkhraisat06 at gmail.com
If you are interested in the interpersonal advocacy task force, please get in touch with Ryan, who will serve as that task force's head at rlukowicz649 at g.rwu.edu
When emailing your task force lead, please CC me on the email.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me here at elizabethminer at verizon.net or over the phone at (908) 666-3923
In addition to the task forces we are working on planning our first DARE call for September which will serve as an open forum for your successes, questions and stories related to advocacy.
Thank you
Kind regards,
Elizabeth Miner
