Hello NABS Nation

Want to get involved in NABS but not sure where to start? Do you enjoy
advocating for yourself and others so blind people can live the lives we
want without low expectations getting in the way of our dreams?

If so, then you should consider joining one of our task forces as we are
looking for new members to plan monthly calls. Some previous calls have
included reviewing court cases, discussing scholarships and previewing
Washington Seminar in terms of legislation and logistics for first timers.
The commitment for task force members includes one weekly call and some
tasks in between totaling no more then 1-3 hours per week of your time.

Their are two options: the Interpersonal Task Force focuses on advocating
for yourself with family members, professors and members of your own
community. This may include advice on soft skills like networking or
communication so that we all can live our best lives despite challenges
around us. Please email Bella Teta if you are interested in joining at
b.teta2005 at gmail.com

The Gov Legal task force focuses on systems and societal advocacy where we
discuss how actions in all three branches of government impact our lives.
This can include proposed and passed legislation, court cases and executive
orders on federal and state levels. Email Nancy at gedeon.nancy85 at gmail.com
if you would like to join this task force.

Please cc me via email if you send emails to either Bella or Nancy. Please
express your interest by Wednesday 2/25 at 12 PM so the new task forces can
start meeting the week of March 1.

I am the new chair of the Advocacy Committee, so please reach out via email
rlukowicz649 at g.rwu.edu or phone 401-439-9086 should you have any questions
about task forces or advocating in general.

Thank you all and I can't wait for new voices in our meetings to have the
best spring ahead. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Ryan
