Hello, NABS Nation!
Get excited, because the 2026–2027 National Association of Blind Students year is underway, and we have an incredible team of leaders ready to make it a memorable one!
The National Association of Blind Students Board of Directors is thrilled to announce this year’s committee chairs and co-chairs. These leaders will help turn ideas into action, strengthen our community, and create opportunities for blind students across the country. Whether it’s spreading the word about our work, raising funds to support our programs, or helping students find their place in the Federation, our committees are where the magic happens!
📣 Communications Committee
Chair: Izzy Bailey
Co-Chairs: MaKenzie Love & Noor Khraisat
Have a knack for storytelling, a passion for social media, or a desire to keep students in the know? The Communications Committee is the place to be! This team creates engaging content, promotes student division events and initiatives, and ensures that everything we share reflects the philosophy and values of the National Federation of the Blind. From social media and email to our website and beyond, these committee members help blind students stay informed, connected, and engaged. They make sure the NABS message gets out there loud and clear!
💰 Fundraising Committee
Chair: Alana Smith
Co-Chairs: Soso Ozo-Onyali & Bryson Jones
Ready to turn big ideas into an even bigger impact? The Fundraising Committee brings creativity, teamwork, and plenty of opportunity to the table as we work toward the Board of Directors’ goal of raising $8,000 this year! Along the way, members will build community, develop valuable leadership skills, and have fun bringing fundraising ideas to life. Every dollar raised helps fuel student division programs and advance the work of the National Federation of the Blind. Let’s make those dollars count!
🤝 Membership Committee
Chair: Stormy Odum
Co-Chairs: Julia LaGrand & Valeria Garcia
The NABS community is stronger when everyone has a place in it! The Membership Committee focuses on recruiting and welcoming new members, connecting students with opportunities such as scholarships, mentorship, and educational programs, and helping members feel supported and empowered. The team will also help graduating students find their next home within the National Federation of the Blind, ensuring that their involvement in the movement doesn't end when their student years do. >From the first hello to a lifetime of Federation involvement, this committee is all about building connections that last!
Want to Get Involved?
These committees are an opportunity to meet fellow students, develop leadership skills, share your talents, and make a real difference in the lives of blind students. Whether you have years of experience or are simply eager to jump in and learn, there is a place for you!
Please note that committee meetings are open to all, and our leadership teams will welcome your thoughts, ideas, and work ethics with open arms. Stay tuned for meeting times, and jump in wherever your greatest passions lie.
Here’s to a year of bold ideas, meaningful connections, successful fundraisers, and a stronger NABS community. Let’s make 2026–2027 a year to remember!
In Federation spirit,
The NABS Board of Directors
