I suspect this has happened before; I suspect schools don't know about it. 
If the person owns the dog, there is nothing to be done about it. If you 
abse your dog, the school won't get involved, at least not first. You have 
the same punitive measures that others would. This would be a similar thing. 
Schools get involved, or at least it is my understanding that mine does, to 
the extent that, should they hear about it, they try to help you right the 
wrongs, if there are any. They might possibly, in this instance, visit with 
you about if this was in your best interest or the dog's, but at the end of 
the day, it's the owner's decision.

See I haven't seen this happen before, and why I was interested.
If I thought there was a time I needed to retire the dog I would love
to share him or her with someone.
