To add to that, Michael, how about the dogs who start working here and then 
go to other countries where people drive differently, traffic is heavier, 
etc., etc., etc.

When I visited New Zealand six years ago the guide dog school there was
beginning to match a dog with a visiting U.S. professor who was only going
to be in country for seven or eight weeks.  The plan was to give him a guide
dog to use.  After he returned to the States they were going to match the
dog with a more permanent handler.  We should give dogs more credit for
being able to adapt.
