[nagdu] Dave, Tammy, & Maddox Anspach

Hi Marion,
That's great that Maddox is still working after the passing of Dave.

It seems that people don't have the right to use a guide dog that was
origionally issued to someone else according to the contracts you have to
sign with some schools. I ran into this one when I retired a guide dog and
the person I gave it to turned around and used the dog as her guide. The
"fact" that I gave my dog to someone else to use was one of the reasons
stated to me when Guide Dogs of America turned me down almost two years
after I retired the dog. the fact is that I gave the dog for a pet - NOT a
guide. I retired the dog because it wasn't very good with traffic work and
it needed to retire.

But, I agree with you about letting others use a guide dog that was once
issued to another person. I do think this has to go on a case by case
basis. Why does a person give their guide dog to another person to use in
the first place? I don't mean the type of case with Dave's dog Maddox going
to a qualified person to continue working after Dave died.

Just curious about why people give their dog to another person.

Linda and Landon
