[nagdu] Telescoping canes

UFTA! My telescoping cane may grow shorter, but never flaccid.

Seriously, these canes can collapse, as it were, but if used properly and if
extended and secured well with a little twist they work fine. I always
carry one in my brief case just in case. Also, I make sure I travel around
town with one instead of Africa every month just to keep in practice. I am
a firm believer that guide dog users should use canes well. The confidence
comes from within us, not from our dogs.

I have had to go six months without a guide when my fourth, Linnie, became
sick. From May, 1999 through most of November, 1999 I traveled to the World
Trade Center and around New York and New Jersey, and even made some cross
country trips without a guide dog. By the way, I chose to use a telescoping
NFB cane for this as it was much easier to stow.

Again, never flaccid. Hmmmm.

Tracy,
My wife and I frequently joke about the telescopic canes "going Flacid".

Nothing a little Viagra won't help! But, then again, one of the side effects

is a sudden loss of vision! (sly grin)

Fraternally yours,
Marion
