I have collected grooming tools over the years. It seems like every new
dog, even with the same coat type, has their favorites.
Currently on my lab I am using a rubber curry comb. Or at least that is
what the store is calling it. It's a rubber flat oval thing with rings of
little bumps on the bottom. It works well for massaging the skin and
loosening dead hair. She loves it and leans into it like a cat.
Then I use the Furminator to remove excess fur. She has super sensitive
skin. These two tools are the most effective among a very, very few that
she will tolerate at all.
My Boxer mix has the easiest maintenance coat of any dog I have ever had,
except the Italian greyhound. Brisk petting with my fingertips will remove
loose hair. Then a quick wipe with the palm of my hand gets rid of that
loose hair. He has very short fur with only a bit of an undercoat. I do use
the rubber brush on him too because it helps to keep his skin healthy. Super
easy! Love that Boxer coat!
