If you've got a microwave, defrosting the pumpkin should be no problem,
just nuke it for about 15 seconds or so. 
I doubt you'd lose any nutritional value by freezing it, if that
happened, the frozen food industry would not exist. 
And, purayed pumpkin is extremely yummy! 
Ben has excellent taste.

Thanks to all.  I froze about half of it.  The ice cube idea is a good
one, but I'd rather give it to Ben unfrozen, and I'm not sure I'd always
remember to take some out of the freezer in time.

Rebecca, I may indeed look up some pumpkin recipes.  I don't usually
like pumpkin, but this sure does smell good!
And Benny loves it, too.  I wasn't sure if he was just eating it because
it was with his food, and he's a Labrador, so I took a bit on my fingers
and offered it to him, and he scarfed it right up with a happy slurp.
So that's good, that he likes stuff that's good for him.
