[nagdu] schools

Did you tell Leader Dogs how you felt when you called about Nicholas.
It is good feedback for them to know.
We had grief counceling and it was kind of mechanical.
At least schools now realize you can't just "forget about the
retired/dead dog".

Hi guys. Kim was my trainer. Pam was there because she was working
with a new lady, Lisa. Steve is always around and has even been to my
work place
to drop off someone's partner. Mike is the biggest Ohio State fan I
ever
met! The definition of Buckeye is " a worthless nut". That really sets
him off. Adrian stayed a weekend to cover for one of the other trainers.
I like it really well and plan to go back when Amos retires.

I really loved Leader Dogs, but when Nicholas died the person I spoke to
when I called to tell them of Nicholas' passing only said "send back the
harness" and acted as if I had interrupted her day. Nicholas' passing
was the most traumatic day of my life. That is the main reason I didn't
consider my second dog guide for fifteen years. Tim(in training) &
Mickey were my trainers at Leader Dogs. Most everybody I worked with
there is retired now. Larry told me that the Judy that I know is now
involved in grief counseling. Too late for me, but I am glad to hear
that they are looking at the magnitude of the loss when your partner of
10 years passes.
Thus ends the first chapter of my dog guide life! grin take care God
Bless

Sincerely yours,

Bob Hicks,
