Ron,
I always strive to be courteous. however, I will not compromise my civil
rights over the interest of courtesy. Mind you, I will never be discourteous
when I am denied access, even though the discriminator may think that i am.
I was once denied access to a bar. After forty-five minutes of trying to
explain to the manager that I had the right to enter the establishment with
my dog, I invited him to contact the sherrif's office and they would explain
it to him. His reply was "I'm not going to call them. If you want to call
them, there is a telephone outside." I advised him that, if I called them, I
would file criminal charges against him. "Have at it!" was his reply. When
the deputy arrived - she was all of 5'3", maybe 120 lbs. - she also tried to
explain the law to him. He was adamant that I was not going to enter.
"Perhaps you don't understand me," she told the 6-foot tall, 250 lbs.
man, "if you don't let him in I will arrest you!"
"Well, then, I take that back! But he still can't come in because he has
a bad attitude!"
"He probably didn't have a bad attitude until you told him he couldn't
go in!" Then she turned to me and asked me to follow her.
"Where are you going?" asked the manager.
"To write up your order to appear in court on criminal misdemeanor
charges!"
The manager followed us out the door, pleading with her not to do so.
She told him it was too late. Would you like to know what he said to me?
"Whatever happened to compassion in this world?" I replied, "That's a good
question. Would you like to answer it for me?"
Three months later the headlines read, "blind Beer Drinker Wins a Round
in Court". He was ordered to pay court costs and serve me the beer I was
going in to get.

Fraternally,
Marion
