I do plan to read this book. 
Not sure I agree with you about NFB providing the warm fuzzies which
would have allowed him to live longer, but if you like, we can talk more
after I get a shot at the book.

Hi Rebecca,

I think the NFB would have given Doctor Bolotin the feeling of not being
alone.

I think he wore himself to death - literally - with having to work much
harder than the sighted doctor had to in those days. I really enjoyed
the book and so did my Mom, a retired RN.  You will see what I mean
about his wearing himself out once you read the book.

I read the print copy with my magnifying glases - hopefully it is
availible on tape or through something like BOOKSHARE. I read the review
of the book in a Braille Monitor last year, forget which issue.
