[nagdu] blue tongue?

Oh, that is too funny! Kids just crack me up when they see us in the store
or on the bus or anyplace they don't expect to see a dog -- let alone one in
harness! Since I moved out to the 'burbs, I've had a couple run screaming,
but most are fascinated and go on and on about the "doggie." Mitzi's funny
about little kids. They absolutely faschinate her, but she does not want
them getting their tiny hands into her curls. No way, no how! In fact, I
still work with her when itty bitties are interested in her, so it turns
into a bit of a show sometimes.

The grandbaby next door is now a toddler and getting verbal (hi! Hi!), and
she has quite a relationship with both of our dogs. To get them (especially
Daisy) used to seeing her walk around instead of just being a presence in
someone's arms, I had her give treats to Mitzi, so now every time she sees
Mitzi, she holds out her tiny hand and makes little popping sounds so that I
will put a treat in her hand for her to hold out for Mitzi. Daisy still
gets too excited about the kid to notice the treat, which is probably a good
thing. When Daisy gets excited, it is best to keep her away from small,
fragile things. /smile/

The two of them do sing to each other in the morning when the kid first
comes out after spending the night. Very cool.

Subject: [nagdu] blue tongue?

So Ro and I were sitting in the doctor's office. She was stowed
under my seat and licking one of her paws.

The little boy sitting across from us is watching her and says,
"mommy, the dog's tongue is blue!"
The mother looks up from her magazine and says,
"It's not blue, it's pink. Her lips are black and her tongue is pink,
honey." and goes back to reading her magazine.

But the boy is insistent and he persists. The mother, realizing she's not
winning, changes the subject.

I go to the bathroom and return to my seat.

The little boy says,
"Mommy, look at her tongue, it's got blue on it, really!"

By this time Mom is tired of his imaginative game but she looks.

Finally, I cut in,
"He's right, you know, her tongue has birth marks on it."
"Are they bluish black?" she asks.
    "yes, that's what I'm told."

Vindicated, the little boy says,
"See, I told you her tongue was blue."
I couldn't help laughing.
Best,
Annie and Ro with the blue tongue
