Can you explain how you teach the dog over right?  The technique that we 
were taught, which I don't much like, is for sidewalkless travel.  Every now 
and then, you stop and actually turn left until the dog stops at the side of 
the road, which should be immediately, if the dog is close to the edge.

Ron,

I'm not arguing with you. If I get upset with something you say, it'll be
very clear to you that I have an issue. *smile*

I don't even remember who started the thread about the left hand shoreline
or tracking or whatever you call it.  Anyhow the subject was brought up and
I offered my take on it.   I've owner trained 2.5 guides and this seems to
be the theme.  I don't specifically teach them to follow a left hand line,
except on a sidewalkless street, but they all pick up the concept to one
degree or another.

Honestly if I were to teach the dog to shoreline on a side, I think the
right side would be more beneficial because that is the normal flow of
pedestrian traffic.  I also teach over left and over right to indicate that
I want to follow the left or right edge of something.  But if the dog is
left to choose his/her own path, generally they will pick the left side.

For those of you who have guides from programs, do they cover the
shorelining concept in class?   Are your dogs taught over left and over
right?
