My doctor does that. I remind him all the time to IGNORE Verona but 
inevitably, he ends up forgetting. I've got to say, however, with a few 
exceptions, my neighbors have been good at not petting or distracting her 
unnecessarily. We do have lots of dogs around here, though. Good for the 
most part, it keeps V in practice She pulls harder on the harness when she 
sees one but that's all. We go right by before I realize what just 
happened.I think having another pet dog in our house helps, too.
