Yes...I always try to plan ahead.  There certainly have been a few times, 
for one reason or another, that I have left Lexia home.  And she loves me 
all the more when I get home.  They don't know if you've been gone 5 
minutes, 5 hours, or 5 days, but they act as though they have not seen you 
for 5 years.  I do not know what I'd do without my precious pooch.

My 65 pound GSd rides in the floor of the front seat whenever I ride
with one of my drivers. It's a littel tight for her, but better than
the floor of a cramped taxi cab. Thankfully, since society in general
has gotten, um larger, pickups also have gained some size to them. If
I were faced with a truly tight pickup cab though, then I'd probably
have to decide whetehr it was worth taking the dog or not, and if not,
plan accordingly.
