[nagdu] Guide dog injured on escalator

Rather then giving our guides FMLA protection, why not some legislative
action that would cover anybody who needs time off work to get a new
mobility device? That would cover more people, would be easier to
swallow for non-dog types, and if written well would cover people
getting new guides, as well as guides that had been injured.
I also wonder, as Sarah did why this man didn't put some of his energy
into keeping his job.

I don't think trying to add something like that into health care reform
is
really a good idea. Health care reform is already so incredibly
controversial that we could end up with none at all.

Looks like the FMLA is pretty specific at both the State and Federal
levels,
as there is very little different in definition with Wisconsin anyway.
Read
on...

to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a
serious health condition; or

I hear and respect the varying opininons everyone is voicing, but this
issue
of our guides not being covered under FMLA may be something to look at
closer as far as legislative action goes. Maybe this could be taken one
step further and our guides should have access to this national health
care
plan that is being debated in the Senate soon.
