Hello all,
I wanted to let everyone know that my new guide Fallon and I arrived home on
Thursday to Tampa from the Seeing Eye. We took a walk around the
neighborhood yesterday. Fallon is a little girl, only 51 pounds. She's a
yellow Lab, and has a very cute pink nose. She's a jumper, or, as I call
her, a Tigger. So we'll be diligently working to eliminate that behavior!
Though I still miss my Merry dog, it is truly a joy to have a dog in the
house once again.
I had a fabulous experience at the Seeing Eye! The staff is so very caring
and professional. I'm glad I decided to return there, even though the last
time I went was in 1980!
I was reading with interest the story about the escalator accidents. Of
course we did escalator training in New Jersey, and Fallon seems fine with
going on them. But when we came into Tampa this past Thursday, I decided
that we didn't need to deal with the very long escalator ride at the
airport, and opted to take the elavator. She did well on her first plane
flight, by the way, only sitting up and putting her head in my lap when we
took off. She's small enough that I had no trouble sliding her under the
seat. The flight attendant didn't even ask if I wanted to sit in a bulkhead
seat, so that was good.
We had a full class of 24 students, and passed a cold around, but at least
it wasn't the flu! There were only 3 first timers.
I'll probably post now and then about how things are going, and give you
updates about our misadventures (smile.)
Sherrill and Fallon
