Hello Joy,

I am on my first guide dog, his name is doxology., I have only been blind
for just under 4 years. Suzanne and I as well as a few others have launched
a non profit aimed at ensuring equality and access for the blind to all
things great and small. Please take a look at our web site and please please
offer any advice you may have as we work to develop a one stop and shop
concept for accurate information or at least links to organizations which
may have answers which are empowering and which promote independence. When I
entered the blind community I did not find information to be reflective of
the types of answers which triggered results in my life. Thank you for the
warm welcome and I hope to be able to share and learn more about guide dogs
and how best to promote them and care for them as well.

Hi Albert and Suzie,

Welcome to both of you to our group. We are a bunch of good people with a
few bangs and bruises to show for our experiences as well as some high fives
for each other and for ourselves and our four-legged partners. It never
ceases to amaze me that we have such a wealth of experience and talents. I
would love to read the emails sent by our four-legged partners. It would
probably open a whole can of worms that we wouldn't be able to handle.

I hope that both of you will find this list a place to go to share your
joys, ask questions, complain about treatment in certain situations and to
build friendships.

Welcome!

BTW, my name is Joy Relton. I am currently working with my fourth Seeing Eye
Dog Belle who is a sixty-five pound yellow lab full of love, exuberance and
very smart. I live in northern Virginia and spend my time volunteering,
learning new things and getting back into life after a medical issue which
caused me to have to relearn a lot of things. One of the biggest gifts that
this group has given to me is to provide support and encouragement when I've
been down on myself for not having made the progress that I think I should
have by this time. Patience is not one of my long suits, but friendship is.

Welcome to both of you

Joy with Bell who is ready to go out and experience the weather without all
that wet stuff falling.
