Hmm,
Having not seen you in action, it's hard to know.
You do need to be the pack leader, but that doesn't always mean "correct
whenever the dog doesn't do what I want".
You can be relaxed and convey the "I'm in charge" vibe, just as you can
be abrasive and convey the "Do whatever you want, as I can't stop you".
You can also do something far worse which is to make your dog and other
people for that matter afraid of you. Fear isn't power.
Hard to speculate further as I don't know you.

Subject: [nagdu] Dogs listening

A friend and I were having a discussion of weather or not I am too harsh
to
my dog. When my dog doesn't listen to a command ie sit or around to go
around a door I lift up the leash or do other slight corrections to make
them listen. This person thinks that I need to relax more on my
handling. I
totally disagree because the dog needs to know that I am the boss and
that
they can't get away with things.

Just a thought for discussion.
