[nagdu] quick relese handle

Hi Linda,
The problem with the Seeing Eye handle connectors is that if they are not
put on tightly enough, they can come loose, and it is a bear to reattach
them, particularly with the snap guards in place.
The quick-release handle I had for Glaze had metal "panic-snap" connectors.
They aren't going to wear out any sooner than the snaps on our leashes,
which we operate all the time. (grin) They are very sturdy. I believe three
schools use these connectors on their harness handles. I don't know how well
this would work with a Seeing Eye harness body, because those other
harnesses have different types of rings connecting the handle and the
harness. But I think it could work.

Hi Mardi,
Seeing Eye uses those connectors that have the nut in the middle and the
connector is rectangle shaped. You have to use a pliers to start it and
then you can unscrew it in one direction to open up the place to remove the
harness's D ring. I don't know what that connector is called. Also we have
a leather sleeve that covers this connector to prevent it from snagging on
things. They used to call this part a Nylon Guard to protect the nylon
stockings ladies would wear with a dress. This part requires a screwdriver
to undo the screw that holds it in place.
Our handles can be removed but it takes time and isn't practical to be
removing the handle. I wonder if the quick-release handles would wear out.
With all that putting on and taking off, I wonder how well the mechanism
holds up over time. I have only seen these handles on the new kind of
harness used by GDB.
