Hi,

I am new to the list and my name is Georgia.

When we used to have a local NFB chapter where I live, we had volunteer interpreters and it worked out well.

Acording to the community college I contacted when we had our state convention several years ago, we offered interpreter service to one or 2 people. We had to hire a certified interpreter to supervise the volunteer(s). It was a big expense for us at that time.

I think that if folks request interpreters ahead of time as someone on this list suggested that would be a great idea.

I wonder if A c B was able to use all volunteers? Also, you have to consider meals, gasoline etc. If the volunteers are mainly students, these expenses will be difficult for them to handle on their own.

I felt the ASL interpreters did a great job .
