I'll send you the list! Hm... I'll bet if you could bring along
something
really cute and adoration-inspiring, we could travel in style for free!
/grin/

Tami,
You know, you really need a traveling companion. Got anyplace you want
to go? I'll be right there to assist you and Mitsy!

Albert,

Mitzi was offered a seat in first class, but I was so shocked that I
kept
her on the floor. /lol/ I was still trying to learn guide dog
etiquette
and teach her good etiquette, that it had never occurred to me the
flight
attendant would *offer* her a seat. Well, it was Mitzi who wrangled us
a
first class upgrade in the first place. I got really incredible
service,
too, just because the flight attendants would use the excuse to come
make
over Her Royal Poodleness. Mitzi was very gracious in accepting the
attention. /grin/

Next time, I think I would, because she's older now, and I'm not so
fussy
about the "right way" to do absolutely everything because we've learned
the
rules well enough to break them. It would depend, though, on whether I
could be sure she wouldn't end up flying solo around the plane if
something
sudden happened. Hm....

She had plenty of room on the floor of first class, even by her
standards,
so she could fly quite comfortably without having to worry about those
long
legs of her. Which meant I could get in a snooze because I didn't have
to
perform a "point check" every time I heard somebody moving around. Even
when she starts out all tucked in nice and proper, she sort of starts
oozing
as she relaxes, then feet start popping out in all directions. /lol/
If I
can, I use my feet to keep the legs out of danger, and she will rest her
head on her long neck against my leg, so that works for fairly short
periods
until she starts showing signs of real discomfort. It is nice to have
room
to let her be comfortable and safe *and* not a tripping hazard so I can
relax, too.

Don't know what all the popping out of the legs is about, but she does
it
even when she sleeps at home, and it seems to be a muscle thing. So
when I
have her tucked in using my feet as a brace, I start feeling the
twitches,
then she will jump like she's having a spasm because she can't let her
legs
stretch out. Huh. Or am I just too big a sucker? Either way, I try to
find a balance whenever I can.

Ok, I did not want to go there jule, but my dog has also gotten a seat,
space permitting, on most flights we take. The flight attendants trip
over
themselves just to make sure he is comfortable. They ask if he needs a
pillow or a blanket, but we always decline and ask for one glass of ice
and
a scotch for daddy.

I know Albert mentioned this as a joke, but I wanted to tell everyone
that you *can* offer your guide dog a seat. I spoke to several bus
drivers, and all of them said that as long as the bus was not overly
full and the dog behaved (which all guide dogs should!), they had no
problem with a guide dog sitting in a seat on the buses that don't
have room under the seat. I just thought I'd let people know that if
you ask, it may be allowed, and is therefore an option for people
whose buses don't have the underneath room for a poor squished guide
dog.
