I mentioned in a previous message that I am trying
http://www.cedarcidestore.com/cedarproducts.html
for flea and tick prevention this bug season.

I've been using it now for a few weeks and wanted to share my thoughts.
First, I love the smell of this stuff. I have never in my life enjoyed sniffing my dogs after applying any sort of bug toxin. It smells like cedar, because it's made from cedar. *smile* For the first half hour or so it is strong. I don't mind it, but my husband does. I either apply it when he's not home or leave the dogs outside for a bit.

It comes in a spray bottle. I ordered the quart size and got a free smaller bottle. The smaller bottle will be perfect for tossing in my purse or suitcase. Including shipping it was around $45, if I'm remembering correctly. I have two dogs 75 and 90 pounds and I'm expecting that this bottle will last the entire bug season.

It is recommended to be applied once a week. additional applications are okay if you're going into a particularly bug infested area.

I sprayed it on the dogs last weekend. thursday it rained buckets, Monty and I got soaked on the way home from work. My husband and I went out to the farm pond and garden last night. Monty went along. I didn't think about bug spray yesterday because spraying once a week is new to me and it is early in the bug season. Anyway this area of our farm is very, very full of wildlife of all sorts. I allow Monty to run free there. He was in all sorts of grasses, brush, plumb thickets and even waded into the pond for a bit. I checked him last night and again this morning for good measure. There were no ticks on Monty. My husband did bring one home though. *smile*

I'm not going to say that last night is enough proof to conclusively say that this stuff works, but I am pleased so far with the results.

Julie
