I tried the Haltie but it didn't work so well with Dodie. It was an even bigger distraction then just the sniffing and no matter how snugly I adjusted it, (within reason) Dodie always found a way to back herself out of it. 
Right now, I am trying to get Dodie used to walking with boots on her feet. My graduate services trainer recommended that I get a set of Ruff Wear Bark'n Boots for Dodie to protect her feet from the burning hot pavement during the Florida summer months. They are not to be worn all the time just when we are walking outside or through a hot parking lot. I am trying to be very patient and do a little bit at a time, but she can be stubborn and only walks a couple of steps then sits down and refuses to budge any further until I remove the "offensive shoes!"
