[nagdu] Update on Eye Dog Foundation

Hi all,
I was a graduate of Eye Dog in 1995. The dog I got was a nice dog, but I
didn't feel she was that well trained - especially in traffic checks. We
never did them - no way to the thoroughness that Seeing Eye does! We just
did one day of working in a residential area with a small rectangular park.
the instructors drove some traffic checks there on those quiet side
streets - never on the major roads in Phoenix.

Also, my dog had only one speed - FAST - no matter if we were in an open
area or going through the aisles of a grocery store. I had to physically
slow our pace to work safely in the stores. It is too bad this has happened
at this school - remember that long article in the Braille Monitor a year or
so ago? Yeah, they should just die and hang up the harnesses in that schol!

I only had this dog for 8 months because I got a shoulder and back injury
and couldn't work a dog for a long, long, LONG year. Then I went to Seeing
Eye.
