Not all dogs pattern well, so it could be quite the problem.  When we get 
down to the bare bones of guide work, it is the dog's responsibility to 
guide around obstacles, and it is the handler's duty to direct the dog.  A 
lot of dogs pattern, not all dogs do.  This is a new dog, we are all 
over-analyzing a situation we have not experienced.
