A note to those considering schools, I know transportation to and from
the school has been brought up on this thread. Most of the big
schools, such as Seeing Eye, Leader, Guide Dogs for the Blind and
others, will likely take care of the transportation to and from the
school for you. The only thing you're responsible for is paying for
the dog, if that's needed, and packing for the trip. Most people fly,
but those that live closer to the schools may elect to take trains or
busses to get there, and I would imagine that the school would take
care of that cost as well. Medium to small schools I'm not sure of and
I'd encourage anyone interested in said schools to check with the
school about their individual policies. I'm pretty sure the ones I
mentioned above will take care of all transit costs for you though.
